  1. Packed with atmosphere, accessible gameplay and sweet visuals, Beyond Good & Evil has most definitely reached beyond our expectations. Don't miss it.
  2. Where most games entertain us with cutscenes to observe, Beyond Good & Evil is a cutscene. This is the first game to fully, properly inject the undeniable power of cinematic technique into the experience. [Nov 2003, p.70]
  3. It is a wonderful title that exudes both charming beauty in its lush aesthetics and sophisticated brilliance in its streamlined, accessible gameplay.
  4. It's an 'experience' as much as a game, meaning that it will leave as many people cold as it grabs by the right half of the brain. Beyond good, then, but not quite excellent. [Christmas 2003, p.104]

If they don't make a sequel, they do a diservice to all mankind.

This is a pretty good game. I found it fun, fun enough to finish it, which I usually don't seem to do for most games. It's relatively easy and not too long. I like that. Critics claim that it has an amazing story. To me, it seemed like the story didn't build appropriately to the ending. If this is an example of good storytelling in a game, then games have a long ways to go yet. To me, the cartoon animal characterization seemed childish but it didn't stop me from mostly enjoying the game. If this review comes off negative, it's probably because the game critics lead me to expect more. It's a pretty good game. Expand

While a lot of people seem to like this game I'm in a minority that don't like it so much. It's not a bad game per se but the story is just a rehash of fantasy and sci-fi cliches and it doesn't have any fun with them. The locations are bland as its all caves and factories, caves and factories, over and over again. Worst, the game is incredibly short. Shorter if you don't get stuck working with the more frustrating moments. They say this game was meant to be a part of a trilogy but if you ask me they say that because the game is really unfinished. The few novelities it has like the camera games and such don't defeat the fact that it is too short and what we get is something we've seen done better in other games. Expand
