  1. Graphically, it is a step above the PS2 as there is less flicker in the background and less aliasing in general. It is missing the graphical improvements given the Xbox version, however.
  2. It takes sound football strategy and patience to be successful, so when you finally beat the game on All-Pro mode, you know you’ve accomplished something big. [Feb 2002, p.164]
  3. 100
Madden NFL 2002 not only plays an incredibly deep and solid game of football, but it showcases the system's versatility for handling a fast-paced sports simulation.
  4. But believe it or not, I had a problem with GC’s controller. [Feb 2002, p.87]
  5. Harder to control than it should be. I love both the Xbox and GC controllers (a rarity, since most gamers like one, but hate the other), but Madden was not developed for either of them.

But what really takes Madden forward are the great extras, which this year include a Two-Minute Drill mini-game, create-a-player, -team, or –league modes, Coach’s Challenge, and more.
  7. 87
A port of the already-released PlayStation 2 game, but for once it's an improved version at that.
  8. It's so comfortable! When I fire up the PS2 version, I find myself wishing there was a way to connect the GCN Controller. [Nov 2001, p.141]
  9. Its game play is just sick and that’s combined with some fine graphics and awesome off field depth.
