  • Summary: Pikmin may be small and plantlike, but they can be a space traveler's best friend. Stranded on an unknown planet, Captain Olimar must enlist the help of these native Pikmin to rebuild his spaceship before the life-support system runs out. In the meantime, you'll have to fend off attackers and solve various puzzles. To produce additional multicolored Pikmin you must defeat enemies and carry them back to the Pikmin nests called onions. But beware--watching giant predators gobble your Pikmin might make you angrier than you'd expect. Expand

  1. A riot of stressful action and multitasking that's fun every time you play it. [Dec 2001, p.164]
  2. Another dollop of glorious GameCube genius.
  3. 70
Solving the challenges was rewarding enough, but the steps one needs to take to achieve these goals become far too tedious.

Originality....Not a new concept but unfortunately a rarity in the video game industry, and thats exactly what this game has in spades. Brilliant creatures, brilliant levels, Pikmin is a breath of fresh air in a stagnant closet of uninspired sequels. Arigato Nintendo and Miyamoto-san! Expand
  2. A remarkable experience that any GCN owner should have already had. Pros: Adorable, addictive, and original gameplay; rich in color; overall, it's fairly challenging and packed with witty puzzles and obstacles. Cons: The length is peculiar; annoying camera; repetitive sequences. Expand

This game is boring. At least in my opinion. The story is uninspired and the game lacks that Miyamoto feel.

I think Miyamoto could have gone very far on this game and made it into a classic nintendo game. He came up with an incredibly creative concept of cultivating little plant-like aliens and using them to battle other creatures and help retrieve ship parts. But other than that, it seems that he fell asleep on the job. It is fun in the beginning with the planting, fighting, and retrieving of the ship parts. But then you realize that this is all the game is: planting, fighting, and retrieving. Not only does it become repetitive and boring, and game only lasts for two days!! I will give him credit for good innovation, but hopefully, if there is a sequel, it will be hundreds of times better than this one. Expand
