A comfortably nostalgic experience. [Oct 2010, p.84]
A great, basic shoot'em-up that will appeal to classic arcade fans after a bite of nostalgia, but it won't get much of a spin after it's all over.
Perhaps only a real joystick can work for this kind of game, but I'd like to think Capcom can at least give it another look, and fix or tweak the controls in an update.
1942 is a dull looker. There are much better top-down shooters in the App Store for you to spend your money on.
A competent top-down shooter, but indifferent controls and an almost horizontal difficult curve keep it from fully taking off.
What I got, after the nostalgia wore off, is a fairly pedestrian arcade game with some big control issues to work out.
It's unfortunate and surprising that such a beloved franchise received such poor treatment.
