This is a fun game for war history buffs and fans of turn-based strategy games. The scenarios are challenging enough to keep you working hard to win each battle, but not so difficult that you don't want to fight.

It's something that grognards, history buffs, and casual strategy gamers alike should be able to get into, and that's quite an accomplishment.
  3. Sep 17, 2012
As such, it's not the most replayable game out there. Unfortunately, there are only four campaigns of eight levels each, and only the first two campaigns are free.

Civil War: 1863 is an entertaining turn-based strategy game once it gets going, but its best ideas are too rarely employed and its presentation too dry for the game to appeal to a wider audience.
