Coast Guard is a game that gets a lot of things right, but at the end of the day, feels rushed.
The instances where Coast Guard works well can be fun, just not fun enough to justify the mediocrity or frustration of the rest of the game.
Coast Guard is strongest when it is doing ship operations and after that, it tends to get bogged down in a quagmire of oddity.
Seafaring is passable, but on-foot exploration and dialogues evoke a broad range of feelings, from pity to loathing. As for voice-acting, well, it’s sure to cause fits of nervous laughter. [Issue#204, p.88]
Coast Guard struggles to keep its head above water and offers very little to keep you going back for more.
This looks, sounds, and plays like a student project attached to a Unity water physics tech demo.
