David feels very unique in both gameplay and art style, so much so that I recommend it to anyone who seems even remotely interested.
David presents an abstract, dangerous world that’s as tough as it is beautiful and surprisingly emotive.
David is a minimalistic game wrapped inside of a soothing atmosphere in which the hero must defeat a number of evil creatures representing different struggles and aspects of life.
While the game is a bit rough around the edges (right now it's not running properly on a handful of devices including the original iPad Mini) and certainly takes some time to get used to, David is definitely a game that's worth your attention.
David's control scheme has clearly been built around the touchscreen, but while the game's a delight on iOS (on iPhone, at least - the buggy iPad version is awaiting a fix at the time of writing), it works surprisingly well on PC and Mac, too.
Too often my victories felt like strokes of luck instead of skilled management. Yet there is an obvious heart to Armstrong’s David that carries it over the line, delivering a beautifully depicted and high-concept arcade experience that you can enjoy for free. [Episode 6, July 2014]
David. is an action packed challenge that is well executed making it worth picking up. Too bad it leaves you wanting more.
