It's incredible how well this game was handled, as playing it on a Retina Display feels identical to any other platform.
  5. Nov 26, 2013
An excellent iOS port of an already interesting reinterpretation of the classic 2D SEGA Genesis - Mega Drive platformer.
  6. Nov 29, 2013
While by no means perfect, Castle of Illusion is a good enough platformer that pays worthy homage to the Genesis classic. That said, its high cost makes it too expensive to be an impulse buy, and we can only suggest waiting for the inevitable price drop.

If you can wrestle through the controls though, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is host to imaginative levels, clever camera work and an abundance of Disney charm to keep you happily playing for hours.

This is a great game to play with your kid, or just purchase if you like Mickey Mouse. The art, story, voice, and difficulty are great. It's all well done and you can't just fly through it. You'll likely die several times on each level. It's not the longest game but I played it with my daughter and it was a lot of fun. I would compare the difficulty to a game like Sonic, but with better artwork. I can't think of any reason to rank it down I'm not grading it against something like Bioshock it's just a 10 for what it is. Expand

This is a high polished game that brings back the magic of Disney through excellent characterization, voice work (the narrator is fantastic), music, and design. Its a fantastic remake of the classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive title. The only problem is that despite all the thought and hard work put into it, the controls are a little clumsy. The game has a transparent controller layout overlapped on the display but it isn't accurate and doesn't always work well. If you are really itching for this classic title and you have the option, play it on a console instead as it works much better with a hand held controller. Expand
