  • Summary: Devilishly smart. Deploy wicked tactics and dominate your enemies! Build the ultimate underground lair and summon diabolical forces to do your bidding. It’s tower defense…without the tower…and a lot more offensive!

Dungeon Keeper’s pared-down reboot is fun on its own right, even if it's not quite the same creature as the excellent classic games it’s based on.

Dungeon Keeper for iOS is a well-made mobile update of a classic.

It's not Dungeon Keeper, but Dungeon Keeper has enough going for it that it's worth a punt.

It's a huge shame, because Dungeon Keeper is such a great franchise. I vividly remember getting hooked on the original for the very first time, and hooking in non-strategy fans with its unique perspective and visual style. But you're getting none of that here, as you're instead presented with a hollow freemium shell of what once was.

It could've been a chance to give a second life to an old classic, but EA got this all wrong. The managing side is poor, and a greedy microtransaction system ultimately spoils the fun.

The tragedy of Dungeon Keeper is that every so often, it shows glimpses of what makes it great. You can see the classic game is in there somewhere: its genius, and what it could have been. But then the gates slam shut, as though the Dungeon Keeper himself is kept in a larger meta-dungeon, whose bean-counting overlord tells you to come back later, or maybe even tomorrow. Or pay up.

Dungeon Keeper is not a video game, not any more. Instead it’s just a virtual beggar, constantly demanding your spare change and offering nothing in return.

I have a very simple solution, don't download this game and move on because even if you are used to micro transactions, This game is still absolutely terrible by forcing you to pay a large sum of cash for very little reward.

Despite it having 'Dungeon Keeper' in its name, It's a very simple trap and a cash-grab. The game being under the Dungeon Keeper name that has started this controversy that made EA apologize.

Please, don't even bother to download it and just let it fade away.

The constrictions on space, being on an android sort of explain the significant lengths of time it takes to mine and reconstruct a dungeon. ItThe constrictions on space, being on an android sort of explain the significant lengths of time it takes to mine and reconstruct a dungeon. It is not intended to be a play through game like something for a PC. It's a whittle a bit here and there game. The really bad parts of the game is that PvP is mandatory. You should be able to opt out and only play against the AI. Also retaliations when you are attacked are labeled as free when it it's not. It costs a lot of gems and there is no possible way to recoup in resources what you spend in gems so it is completely not worth it both from a practicality and gaming standpoint. It is merely annoying. Being raided is little more than an exercise in masochistic futility and getting bullied. The game also frequently crashes. In fact the more days that I played it, the quicker it would crash. I finally deleted it today when after about a dozen attempts it would not even stay on for 5 seconds without crashing Expand

EA used this VERY much revered IP to gouge Dungeon Keeper fans. After about 5 min of playing you are waiting 1 day to clear a single block, you need to upgrade your dungeon heart to upgrade your dark library in order to upgrade your workshop for the next tier trap...this very quickly turns into a week long endeavor. However, this did inspire me to pick up the Dungeon Keepers 2 from gog..so some good came from this EA pay scheme. Expand

One of the biggest scams I've ever seen from Electronic Arts, which is indeed high praise considering they are very good at scamming.

It takes the original, wonderful game and restructures it around paying EA to allow you to play the game. Microtransactions are toxic and horrible for the industry and no game better espouses that than Dungeon Keeper. EA has been a destructive force for a while in the video game world. They survive off their sports licenses which allow them to re-sell similar sports titles every single year to fans who keep re-buying them. They also are into these little projects where they can quickly shoot off a mobile game, slap one of the many, many ONCE GREAT IPs on it and charge you for anything and everything they possibly can. It's like EA is run by the Thenardiers from Les Miserables.

The best thing you can do is rate this game a 0, EA has shown they create false accounts and spam 5-ratings and also encourage people to rate it higher and reward them with in game rewards. Truly disgusting. Please do yourself a massive favor and look for the EA label on games and if it's there, avoid it. You can find better alternatives to everything they do elsewhere.

Rest in peace Dungeon Keeper, you will always be remembered for how you were in Dungeon Keeper 2, not for this mobile cash-in garbage that EA has its grubby mitts all over.
