While not a direct Metroid knockoff, this challenging and physics based App bears a striking resemblance to Nintendo's classic sci-fi adventures. Both gorgeous and incredibly thrilling, it's without question one of the App Store's best.

A pretty addictive puzzle/platformer title that contains some delightfully fast-paced gameplay and is honestly pretty addictive. The tilt controls leave a bit to be desired, and there are occasional issues with in-game objects getting in the way of the camera, but overall this is a great game.

Gears is a fun platformer, and one of those games I know I'll come back to again and again for a quick distraction.

I don't like to fight my games – this isn't to say that I don't like challenge entirely, but that I like the challenge to come from the content of a game, not the interface.

Absolutely beautiful and an amazing experience. It becomes a 3d plat former worthy of many of the best in the genre and possibly one of the best games on iPad. It also is a lot longer than many of the games out there. Expand

Gears the clue is in the title, your mission is to guide a ball around levels collecting emblems, and racking up points, as fast as you can handle. The game is split into 3 differently themed worlds, brimming with colour, and gradually harder challenges as you edge forward. Their is no denying the game is quite short, but the experience is quite enjoyable nonetheless. You get to choose from 2 types of controls, slide to move, or a more difficult tilt to move, providing a little more challenge if that's what your looking for, and while your at it you can check out the highscores on gamecentre, it's not going to be everyone's chai latte, but The kind of game you can re-visit to beat your times. Is this a joke? How can you rate a game like this so high? Are you rating this against the realm of all games, or against the rest of the throwaway games that this platform allows? Expand
