Iron Marines is a very, very good game. It seems like some sort of checkpoint or save system that makes failure feel a little less brutal would be a simple modification, but even without it, the game just forces you to be careful with your decisions. I really doubt StarCraft, in any form, will ever come to the App Store, so provided you can put up with the slightly cartoony art style of Iron Marines, this is definitely the next best thing.
This isn’t a gaming experience where hand-holding would feel appropriate, but there are definitely times when a little more guidance would be nice. Once you’ve sunk some time into Iron Marines, though, you’re likely to be delighted by the way it works both your brain and your fingers simultaneously, which is what truly excellent RTS titles always manage to do. It’s not easy, but when the going gets tough, the Iron Marines get going. If that’s not a phrase that people say, consider it officially coined.
Unique gameplay, awesome visuals and solid performance. Maybe the best RTS experience for mobile devices! It is so engaging that it feels short but I'm confident much more content will be added in the near future. That's the way Ironhide Studio has worked with all their previous games, and Iron Marines will not be the exception.
This game is one of the best rts I have played this year and the best on ios. The campain is fun and filled with action from having marines shoot enemies to flamethrowers and artillery troopers and wacky heros. Multiplayer has not come out yet but should come by the next month or so. The only problem that I have with this game is that to get the "cooler" heros you either have to grind a lot or pay some money. All in all this game is good and fun so I would reccomend you to try it!
Iron Marines is quite possibly the best real-time strategy game on the App Store. It's full of variety, lovingly crafted, and imminently replayable. Its in-app purchases may rub you the wrong way, but that feels like a small blemish on an otherwise extremely polished and fun experience.
It might not have the scope of more traditional RTS games, but that's not what Iron Marines is looking to do. It wants to take the meat of the genre, throw in a few mobile twists, and then plonk the whole kaboodle into the palm of your hand. And it manages to do that with some real gusto. It's fun, it's deep, and it's almost certainly going to make you exclaim with joy. Iron Marines is the mobile RTS that we've been waiting for, and it's a little bit brilliant.
If you think Iron Marines as a mobile version of StarCraft, you might be disappointed: but if what you want is a solid, well crafted blend between an RTS and a tower defense game, look no further.
A great RTS title with a wonderful game design and some depth. Contrary to Kingdom Rush It lacks some better level design and more interesting missions. Generally I'm not a fan of the InApp-purchases, I would just prefer moderately higher prices for the games. It's one of the best iOS games.
Simply not as much fun as the earlier Kingdom Rush Tower Defense games. They should purely make tower defense games. They have a winning formula, no need to change it. Just add new units, storylines, and maps. Alien setting with Tower Defense would have been OK.
Right now this is a very shallow RTS. The beauty of tower defense is that it can work well on an iPad with touch as it can on a PC with mouse. RTS doesn't translate well to iPad with its small screen.
SummaryReal-time strategy battles in amazing sci-fi worlds! Command brave soldiers, mighty mechas and powerful aliens to face the greatest challenges in hostile alien worlds. The galaxy needs you.
