There's still plenty of room for improvement with patches and bug fixes, but NBA 2K14 shows signs of improvement.

NBA 2K14 is not a horrible game by any means. The new music and the depth of the LeBron: Path to Greatness mode definitely give it a good amount of fun and value. But is that value worth the $7.99 asking price? Probably not. Unless you really care about LeBron James and his mode, then I would just stick with NBA 2K13. It’s got the same gameplay and the same graphics, but it also packs a better sound suite that indeed, sounds sweet.

Considering you don't have too many basketball games to enjoy on mobile - save for the always-enjoyable NBA Jam - NBA 2K14 is a good choice, especially if you're a fan of LeBron and want him back in Cleveland. Fans can dream.

A lazy conversion of the essentially same game enjoyed last season. The sound department is awful.

Despite a handful of game modes and a fairly smooth experience overall, 2K14 reinforces the adage that all that glitters is not gold.

NBA 2K14 is a decent game and if it wasn't for the prequel, I'd more than likely suggest snapping it up. As it stands, however, I seriously recommend purchasing NBA 2K13 instead - It's the same price and the commentary and up-to-speed court announcer make it worth the investment.

NBA 2K14 shapes up well for some LeBron-fueled magic, but it fumbles the pass and struggles to meet expectations after a promising 2012-13 season.

Just when you think the NBA 2K series can't get any worse on iOS, they go and totally outdo themselves... and not in a good way either.

NBA 2K14 is a disappointing effort, that is poor in the most important regards making it one to steer clear of.
