Legasista is a surprisingly good dungeon-crawling action RPG.
Legasista is a dungeon that is begging to be explored by anyone who likes to grind it through trap-filled levels.
There's a robust dungeon crawler buried beneath Legasista's typical anime-style trappings.
Legasista is a strange thing with an equally strange name, full of great ideas that almost always come hogtied to an opposing force. It's a game's game, but that's all it can ever be. A lukewarm story will do that to you. While the systems in place promise an endless descent into addictive, loot-driven madness, it's just too hard to prop up a game that's been tempered with bean sprout inspiration.
Despite following a basic format of dungeon exploration, Legasista provides enough additional components to give players a fulfilling experience. Though the feeling tends to wear thin over longer play sessions, it feels good surviving through dungeons with a pocketful of treasure knowing that your preparations paid off.
Legasista is a game for people who enjoy level grinding for the sake of level grinding. It tailors its experience entirely toward that niche, often to the detriment of everyone else.
Legasista isn't fun. If you desperately need a new JRPG to play, pick up Tales of Graces F, Eternal Sonata, or even NIS's Atelier series. All of those games are infinitely better than this mediocre adventure full of annoying, stereotypical characters and needlessly frustrating mechanics.
Summary In a world in which science has become a relic, people have learned to fear the ancient form of knowledge as magic spells and curses. Now a young man named Alto ventures to the mysterious Ivy Tower, which houses ancient relics of the lost art of science.
