The strong suit comes in the graphical elements and ease of play. This is the golf game that will enable families to play together and give the newer players a chance to succeed.
Unfortunately, MS Golf 2001 Edition is marked more by what is missing from previous versions of the game than it is by anything new that has been added.
For novice or intermediate golfers who don't mind giving up a few of the features found in previous Links or Microsoft Golf games, it's actually quite a good choice for just $19.95.
There are better, more challenging alternatives out there for just $10 or $20 more.
Cyber golfers buying the game as a realistic and challenging golf experience will be disappointed. However, if you approach the game more as entertainment and less as a simulation and attempt each of the game modes, it can be somewhat enjoyable.
This is simply "Links 2000" under a different name. Sure, it's a solid game of golf, but then again so were the previous editions. You're not going to find any new additions, no up-to-date golfing counterparts, nothing.
