Sadly, the game lacks a two-player mode, but the classics are so fun you wouldn't want to share anyway. [Jan 2002, p.152]
Three of the four are really good.
Mediocre at best, but the straw that broke the camel's back was the fact that there is no battery to save your scores to. No battery, no scores, no fun.
While excellent games in arcade history, it seems as if the GBA translation does not do these great classics justice.
What’s missing is anything to differentiate this collection from the other re-releases these games have seen. Even the most nostalgic gamers won’t find anything to get excited about.
"Joust/Defender" produced for the Game Boy Color was a great 8-bit conversion of those two games. The same can't be said for this edition which could, and should have been better than what was already released.
What an absolute disaster. These games are classics, and the only folks old enough to remember these will be put off by the sub-standard conversion done here. These games deserver better treatment. It could have been so much better.
