Oct 29, 2013For players looking for Rush gameplay, this BF4 is a sore disappointment. The problem are the maps, seeming more like the Armored Kill and End Game maps. There are no maps like Grand Bazar, Seine or Aftermath.
There are serious problems with the spawn on the defensive team of a few maps, resulting in many instant kills after spawn.
The unlocking of several weapons is locked to completing the camping. Since the campaign is very weak and boring, this is a problem for the multi player component.
Levelution is just PR. It is just a change in the map, more aesthetic than anything else, that little affects the tactics.… Expand
Oct 31, 2013pew pew, bloody screen so real, hey look at those destroyed buildings doing nothing more than eye candy, so gimmicky so real. want the full game? pay over 100 euros. want to skip leveling, instead of starting up with all unlocks like in the good old games? pay even more!! This game is a disgrace.
Oct 31, 2013EA and Dice released an inexcusable broken product, the game is filled with glitches and bugs that they won't address. I would be fine with the product if they admitted their mistakes however they are just ignoring major problems that affect over 50% of users. The game freezes and crashes on 4 "problem" maps and when they don't crash on the other maps extreme rubber banding occurs as well audio loss and audio looping that render it unplayable. Completely disgusted by their support and refusal to address the issue, never buying an EA or Dice product again.… Expand
Oct 30, 2013Playing Battlefield on Pc since BF1942, i'm officially done with this licence. This is a BF 3.5, the TV missiles in viper is now useless, levolution is just some script, netcode still very bad. I've spotted the same bugs than in BF3, and experienced so many crash in multiplayer that i'm disgusted of Battlefield.
Thanks for your previous Battlefield games Dice, was great.
Oct 30, 2013I wanted very much to like this game. I wanted very much, in fact, to PLAY this game. But unfortunately, after spending over an hour troubleshooting, not only following the steps on EA's site, but researching on the Internet, I'm unable to get the game to even launch without crashing. I haven't even seen the title screen.
This is after being forced to install both Origin and some asinine browser plugin just to launch the single player game. Think about that. I needed to install a browser plugin to play the single player campaign.
How can I give this anything but a fat zero?… Expand
Oct 30, 2013This should be Battlefield 3 DLC. I was hoping so badly for this game to be good, to be something different, to finally make up the difference between it and the CoD franchise. But, it has fallen way short.
Really, still no pregame lobby? Really, still no damage balance? Really, all you added to the franchise was some structures collapsing??
EA is a giant, money grabbing joke. They put out one decent game, and then bleed their customers dry with mediocre sequel upon sequel.
This game will be getting traded in tomorrow and replaced with Ghosts.… Expand
Oct 30, 2013I don't understand dog enthusiasm about the release of the next unfinished crap from EA and DICE. Such a horrible single player campaign, I have not seen yet never, the plot does not exist it is incomprehensible what started it all and end all. During the game the opponents appear out of nowhere right in front of you in ten meters, only that no one was about, and that's under the nose of two tanks and two dozen soldiers! Materialized out of the air. Techniques and soldiers do not go and fly above the earth, artificiality of what is happening is complemented by the behavior of weapons. Feel no shooting, no difference, you shoot from a pistol or a gun, a lack of feedback don't understand, hit you or not! All this against the background of the advertised Frostbite 3 with his deathly pale flowers and blue grey scheme, from which you want to puke. Why such an attitude to the customers? Probably not have enough money and time, and probably just don't care about players and so will devour! And for that ask for 50$, and as much again for premium! EA, you absolutely insolent. It can hardly be called a DLC for the previous part of the game, but not a new product. Put ZERO, this year is the worst game of all that I had!!! And do not say that the main multiplayer. Mode commander is a big nonsense. Technique unbalanced, system revivals horrible sound lags behind the events. I want to see the finished game, but not a beta test. This is a step back compared to the last part of the game. EA, return the money!!! Sorry for my bad English!… Expand
Oct 30, 2013Another unfinished product full of bugs. Horrible singleplayer story. After finishing it I still don't know what the story was suppose to be about. Multiplayer is plagued with bugs, disconnect issues, horrible netcode (which seems to be standard for BF series) and headache inducing screen shake 24/7.
This game should be a DLC for Battlefield 3.
Oct 30, 2013The single player is ok, very short and forgettable, but everyone cares about the multiplier. However, on PC the multiplier constantly crashes after 5-20 min of game play, which wouldn't be to bad but you lose all your exp for that match. I have played a ton, and well over 75% of my games i have crashed to my desktop and lost all of my exp and the games that haven't are usually ones almost over where i gain nothing. After putting 7-8 hours into the multiplier, i am only just hitting level 5 which is so much fun. You buy these games for the multiplier, and with the multiplier being completely broken, the game is utter trash.… Expand
Oct 31, 2013Do not buy! Just save your money and keep playing BF3 until this game is fixed. I updated my AMD drivers to the latest beta and I still have constant issues with the campaign freezing on level 3 no matter what I do. I also have issues in multiplayer with huge server lag and stuttering. My ping is very low yet I still experience these problems. Wait until they release the first patch then think about buying.

Oct 31, 2013I have no played single player, nor tried out commander mode. I however extensively played the beta.
I rate games on three points. Graphics, Gameplay, Sound. Over BF3, the graphics and gameplay have not been improved. However, the sound has immensely. It is why I give this a three. "Levolution" is simply a catchphrase used to win over naive drones who don't know all it means is a little extra scripting in each level that has never been hard to achieve. I did not pre-order. I have not bought it and never will. I have been wanting the strategy & gameplay of BF2 & BF2142 to be the starting point and be improved upon. Despite the gunplay, graphics & sound all improving the gameplay has unfortunately followed Call of Duty formula: Ultra fast TTK and Ultra fast gameplay. TTK is so low and life time so short that you are really just dying constantly. The only way to survive is to fly or drive around with your friends repair spamming, but even then when you get focused everything is so weak your destroyed. Don't bother. At this very moment they're already working on BF5 which they'll announce 6 months from now and the same drones will thoughtlessly fork out the cash.… Expand
Nov 2, 2013First of all, let me just say that I am a huge Battlefield fan. In fact some might call me a fanboy. I simply love this series to death. But even I have trouble stomaching the quality of this product. I have never seen such atrocious server issues and netcode in a AAA release title. This game has huge production values and yet they can't seem to run a steady gaming session without servers crashing on you and wiping all your unlocks and xp. You will get shot after running behind cover because your opponent saw you out in the open due to the discrepancies in the netcode. It seems that this lack of care and quality is a trend nowadays. Large companies are shoving games out the door before they are polished just so they can hit that holiday sales window and rake in more dough. It is shameless and predatory and this has caused me to lose all respect for the developers.… Expand
Nov 1, 2013Rushed to launch before the next Call of Duty, as EA always does, Battlefield 4 returns with even more DLC schemes and console ports, ready to take your money and charge you every step of the way.
It's quite literally Battlefield 2 for the mindless modern gamer.
Oct 30, 2013Where to begin? I realize that this is not a simulation style game, so realism is not the top priority for the devs, however... in a world of tanks, planes, smaller tanks, dune buggies etc. the balance of the weapon systems is way off. Anyone who has experience firing larger caliber weapons will notice right away the ridiculous drop off the 25mm cannon and the MBT cannon is not only not realistic, but you'll fire much smaller caliber weapons and laugh when you see how much more accurately they shoot. The game forces ground vehicles to close to 25m of a target before you can start hitting consistently.… Expand
Nov 2, 2013EA is basically selling a (relatively large) map pack for Battlefield 3 that costs 110€ (base game dlcs). There's literally nothing in it that justifies this price (or the game's title, for what it's worth it should be Battlefield 3.1). Plus there are a lot of people reporting random crashes of the game so it's yet another reason to stick with Battlefield 3 until this title gets patched and shows up on sale.… Expand
Oct 30, 2013Out of the five hours I've spent playing this game, less than an hour has been actually in-game. It's been a terrible combination of crashing, server disconnects, severe load times, and choppy performance (once I do get to play). My computer isn't the greatest, but I'm still surprised that this game runs like total junk on a mixture of low- and medium- settings (and ends up looking far, FAR uglier than BF3). Compared to the hundreds of other PC games I own, this one is too much work to get it to even run.
The actual game seems okay, from what I've played, and steps up the series gameplay in some subtle ways. Paracel Storm (one of the few maps I've been able to get onto and play) really impressed me with the way that changes in the environment affect gameplay (rocking waves, changing weather, and a nice level of continuous player-driven destruction). But, that's beside the point. I can't even run this game.… Expand
Nov 1, 2013The critics must not have played the game past what the studio wanted them to see. I was looking forward to this game so much and have been a Battlefield fan since BF1942. Unfortunately, this game is a big disappointment. Not only does it feel like a repackaged BF3 but it is buggy beyond belief. I honestly cant remember the last time I played a game with this many issues. Sounds clipping, rubber banding, server and game crashes. I realize they want to beat COD to release but this game is no where near ready. I really enjoy gaming when it can be done with friends. But after two days of trying to play this game and spending 40% of our time recovering from crashed servers and game clients my friends are trying to return the game. It's really not worth the headache. Looks like we may have to dust off BF3 again.… Expand
Nov 1, 2013I'm getting tired of playing these "modern" combat games. I really hope this is the last time they can get away without significant improvement in gameplay/graphics.
Gameplay sucks because of lack of interactivity/sandbox feeling that Crysis 1 introduced. In this game, you are just going ahead in a tunnel, and almost everything is scripted.
I though at least the graphics will be fine, but that was another disappointment. The only thing that looks good are the characters and lighting.… Expand
Nov 2, 2013There is honestly barely any difference between bf4 and bf3, and i have over 300 hours of gameplay in battlefield 3. This whole "levolution" thing is just a gimmick that rarely has a strategic purpose. On some maps it even makes the whole gameplay worse in the shape of flooding the map or ruining a fun strategic position. Don't encourage dice to keep making the exact game over and over please. I'll stick to bad company 2 for my multiplayer fps gaming.… Expand
Oct 30, 2013The game is barely a graphical update over BF3... and that is about it. Same gameplay, the leveling and unlock system is even less friendly than in BF3.
a typical match goes like this. "Spawn, run for 2 minutes to objective, get sniped, spawn, run for 30 seconds get sniped, spawm, get sniped at spawn."
I have played many matches where it was all snipers from all angles meaning all you did was die as these elite players cleaned the field.
The game is altogether un-fun at the best of times, when these exploits are occuring is is simply enraging.
The game wants you to support your team and work together, but the fact is, if you do not get a kill you are not getting much XP, if any.
If they really do want the game to be about working as a team, then they need to re-work this entire game from the ground up.
It requires team work to play, but what about all of us solo players?… Expand
Nov 2, 2013The game is a huge disappointment because it resembles Battlefield 3 and the single player campaign is less than 5 hours long. The core multiplayer mechanics have barely changed, the graphics haven't been truly updated enough to call the engine Frostbite 3, and the multiplayer maps are lacking. Not to mention that you have to shell out 120 dollars for the base game and premium just to get the entire experience. EA has truly ruined the Battlefield series.… Expand
Nov 1, 2013This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you played Battlefield 3 you know what to expect from Battlefield 4's multiplayer but the singleplayer is even WORSE this time around, it's not original in any way it's just a generic FPS story with things like "i just survived a nuclear explosion and somehow ended up in a Chinese war criminal prison and now i will break out of my cell with my BARE HANDS!" and "im a strong independent woman who beats down two fully trained soldiers and because every other woman in every other game have giant boobs i will have no boobs at all! fight the power!" it's just overdone.
It seems like every AAA developer think they can just make the same games over and over and think people will be stupid enugh to buy them, oh wait they can do that because you are stupid enugh to buy them!
If you already have battlefield 3 just stick with it because there is no other difference then "levulution"… Expand
Nov 2, 2013For a regular shooter there are 10 of 10, but after bf3 this max only 3
poor performance(on medium and ultra always 27-35 fps), bugs, glitch, graphics(after bf3 i want better graphic), hardcore servers always full(i find only 5 rush HC servers and all full), levelution for a one time, destruction like in bf3(similar to bf3), price for game+premium to big.
Nov 2, 2013I have not been able to start the game without my whole computer freezing. I have tried reinstalling every possible driver, reinstalling the game, punkbuster and even windows. But it still doesn't work. I have no problems with any other game and my PC is well within the recommended systems specs.
This is not ok for a game you paid money for.
Nov 2, 2013I'm absolutely disappointed with this game. I've completed single player in about 4h and was full of bugs and glitches, which is a joke, since you promised us a really good campaign. Multiplayer is not any better, every single map is overwhelmed with campers and bugs, and on top of that there are horrendous lags. To be honest, I much preferred the BETA version of this game, at least the gaming community was much more pleasant.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013If you enjoyed Battlefield 3; stick with that BF4 is actually a step backwards with a campaign that is so poor it's a wonder they bothered including it. The maps aren't really designed for specific modes such as Rush and none of which are overly thrilling to play either. The overall product is riddled with bugs and many matches suffer chronic stutters in play with bursts of lag or just general dreadful texture issues.
The bullet detection is laughable with many players throwing hacking accusations when actually it's the game that is woefully inconsistent. With the poor map design; many matches just decline into complete carnage and adding the bugs to the equation, multiplayer just becomes tiresome and tedious. Frostbite 3 is barely a noticeable improvement compared to the jump BF3 made with its new engine. The destruction ceases to impress after a while and as matches become more erratic and chaotic; you'll barely have time to notice the alleged spectacular scripted crashes and bangs.
Kudos to EA though they have done a marvelous job of conning people with a glitzy presentation at E3. The finished product is nothing compared to the impressive portrayal that we saw at the show with the numerous gameplay videos. Battlefield 4 still feels as if it's in alpha-mode as this product is clearly not finished and is far too broken to deserve to be one sale. EA and DICE should be blocked from distributing any DLC until they rectify the bugs but even if this is done, the core game and its gameplay is extremely cumbersome, exhausting and shallow.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013WARNING, HONEST REVIEW
Battlefield 4 is certainly one of the bigger FPS titles in the year 2013 but it is also one of the biggest disappointments. Major selling point of this game is as you probably already know vehicular warfare, team oriented gameplay, level destruction and beautiful graphics. It does all that, however, not to a point this game would be enjoyable.
The first impression is very good, you start off on a what looks to be decently engineered map in a beautiful environment. The real disappointment starts when you begin actually playing. There is no co-operative gamemode (which to be honest is partially a good thing as it was terrible in the previous game), the campaign is disappointing and there is a lot of issues with the engine at the moment of writing this review.
- Decent graphics
- Many weapon unlocks for your soldier
- Decent voice acting in the campaign
- The campaign is much shorter and much worse than in it's predecessor (it feels as if not much effort was put into it might have just skipped the campaign altogether instead of releasing a disappointing one)
- Vehicle unlocks are still around (yes, your jet fighter will be a pathetic piece of junk with nothing to fight with when you get inside)
- No hardcore mode on release
- All guns are toys, they deal almost no damage (at the moment of writing this review, hardcore mode is not implemented yet)
- Map scale too large (in Conquest mode and similar) for the amount of players supported by the engine (active fighting is usually in only one point of the map, whereas the remaining points are half the time empty, one starts to wonder where is that all out war gameplay)
- Numerous engine issues such as broken shaders (objects appear completely black at times), crashes, campaign at certain points unplayable due to bugs (requires checkpoint/mission restart)
- "Levolution" (level destruction/environment changes) is always the same and gets boring rather quickly
In addition to the above, it seems polish/russian players cannot play the game in English without downloading localization and cracked exes which is ridiculous (polish players can pick Russian, but not English???).
NOTE: I have been trying to debug some of the issues on my end such as doodling with drivers and so on, this is not a dumbfire review… Expand
Nov 1, 2013This game is seriously overrated, and indeed i was one of those people who overrated it before it came out.
Beginning with campaign ,we all know that bf3's was awful ,but this one is absolutely rubbish as you don't even get a chance to try out jets or helis. The story itself is not interesting at ALL, maybe it is better than flashbacks in bf3 but its far away from an decent story.
Now to the real part MULTIPLAYER. Jesus ,i was dissapointed so much i unistalled game itself right after 4-5 hours of gameplay. The new weapon mechanics are so boring and frustrating ,mostly snipers.
Vehicles are obviously nerfed down and jets/helis are powered up to the max ,therefore its more safe walking on foot and hiding in the bushes to avoid jets/helicopters.
I could keep on writing ,but i am too dissapointed because i would rather give this game a positive rating ,i really wish i could.
I'll give that one point for the graphical improvement.… Expand
Nov 2, 2013"Something went wrong" that is a message you will (often) see after your game will crash. Considering all that is happening with multiplayer, that is: not possible to join, disconnections from servers, crashes every couple of minutes, and many, many other annoying issues, I would say that something went wrong in DICE.
At the moment I am writing, BF4 multiplayer is simply not playable. Also graphics are not much improved compared to BF3, yet performance impact is significat. I would say game is not to good optimized (yet). To sum-up: Product is not complete and need lot of patching. UUnfortunately.
PS: I judge this game based on multi, I did not finish singleplayer campaign.… Expand
Oct 31, 2013BF3 run perfectly on my system, and I get excellent frame rate in BF4 too, the only thing is, since I have a 32bit Vista (it pertains to all 32bit systems), I am forced to play on low settings not one feature can be changed. And then, the game looks worse than BF2 or 1942 did. It's absolutely ridiculos and the first time I've seen such limitation in a game. My hardware let's me run any recent release at high settings so it's only poor design strategy from developers. At the very least, they should write that on the box, or include such information in previews.
Now I see, thats why demo was limited to 64bit machines. Great move EA, I've a couple thousand dollars worth of pc games but from now I guess no EA game will be bought at launch. Ever.
Additionally, I am screwed by a horrible, and again forced, localisation (Polish).… Expand
Nov 2, 2013campaign with some of the worst character development in a game with extended long drawn out shooting galleries taking too long.

Nov 2, 2013Welcome to Betafield 4.
I have played campaign for 4 hours, not because its that long, but because i had to repeat 1 mission four times, because i glitched under the map, teammates blocked the door and refused to move, and so on... After rage quitting the campaign mode i switched to multiplayer, Shanghai map, and game kept freezing after about a minute in.
So what i got? Overpriced game not tested at all. But... it have MANY DLCs planned, great right? NO! Fix your game before asking customers for more money. If the game was at least playable i would think about buying any of them but now? Not a chance.… Expand
Nov 2, 2013This game isn't even finished. Characters and spawned away from the current objective, massive amounts of texture "errors" or in other words they just didn't bother to give it a texture, and it isn't even the first big blunder by EA, a multi-million dollar company nonetheless. The story has no depth and it's just mindless killing. NPC's aren't animated. And the biggest fault I have found is that it is just too much like Call of Duty. The only good selling point that I could find is that SOME buildings are destructible. The game just bland killing and explosion to make things seem cooler. The people who play tested this game need to be fired because they OK'ed a tech demo.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013There are so many disappointing things about BF4 to me. I had such high hopes for this game. First of all, this game was not ready for release, there are so many bugs and glitches that need to be patched. The beta was clearly a monumental waste of time because I am pretty sure that most people had less issues with the beta than the actual main release. That problem by itself however was not enough to make my opinion of BF4 so bad. Although I could write for an hour or two about all of the bugs, I am just going to leave it at that.
The other main problem that I see is that DICE seems to have forgotten its fan base. Us Battlefield fans are very loyal and I feel like we stick with BF even when times are tough. However, this game is such an abomination and bastardization of previous renditions that I could hardly call it part of the Battlefield franchise at all. BF4 is basically tailored to COD and Halo fans. The remnants of military realism that BF3 had are gone. What we are left with is an arcade type shooter that could be equated to COD with vehicles. All my life I have known the saying of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Why did DICE take a franchise that was essentially not broken and just about perfect in numerous ways, and change everything about it?
With all that being said, I still think there are many great things about BF4. I am just very disturbed by the direction that the Battlefield franchise is going in and I hope that the true Battlefield fans stand up and make their voices heard.
OH AND ONE MORE THING!!! Any moron who complains about single player isn't a true Battlefield fan. If you were a real BF fan you would appreciate that there is a single player in the first place because Battlefield isn't about single player AT ALL. Who cares about the campaign? All that should matter in a Battlefield game is the multiplayer. PERIOD. I am pretty sick and tired of seeing crappy reviews based on single player. The first game that even had a single player in BF was BFBC I think. So seriously, stop whining about the campaign.....if that is really all you got the game for then you are an idiot for wasting $60.… Expand

Nov 1, 2013This game is utter nonsense compared to Battlefield 3. It is best to wait and not ruin the experience, before the bugs are out and developers have maid the game again from the scratch. i consider this waste of my money and time, but hey... maybe they use it to make the game better.
Graphics are not better than in BF4 than BF3, actually by playing both in Ultra settings i consider that BF3 is better looking game.
The way i see it, Developers have read all the requests and wishes from us... laughed, and the done the complete opposite. Don't get me wrong, this game could become a masterpiece, but i requires ALOT... and i mean ALOT of work.

Nov 5, 2013I have been playing Battlefield games since Battlefield 2 and have liked every one of them, but this, this is so dumbed down its not funny. Nothing feels precise, movement just feels "off" and the unbelievable amount of bugs and crashes is just amazing. Why release a game that OBVIOUSLY isn't finished!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING DICE!!!
Nov 11, 2013I literally can't play the game right now. I'm at a known glitch/bug in the game where I can't even progress in single player. So, I got onto multiplayer, and I can't even play because it automatically crashes 30 seconds into any match. It's happened 4 times back to back, I have a top-notch computer and all the drivers.
Nov 3, 2013I have to agree with other reviews. Riddled with bugs, missing textures, audio issues (clipping & sound lags), server crashes, soldiers die instantly upon respawning, etc. If you don't want the game to be judged on these things, then don't rush it out unfinished! It's ***WAY*** overpriced for what it is (basically another unfinished CoD arcade shooter pretending to be a "serious" military game with massive pre-release over-hype). I loved Call of Duty as a game in its own right, but the obsession with trying to turn every... single... shooter/franchise... into a "scripted cinematic experience" is getting very tedious.
+5% GFX improvements do not seem to correlate with +100% higher system requirements. GFX somehow manage to look *worse* in some areas. The issue is not "everyone has slow hardware", it's simply a badly optimized inefficient engine in terms of quality/performance ratio. 4-5hr bug-ridden single-player campaign. "Levolution" just marketing speak for "dynamic map scripting" which is hardly unique.
"Ooh look! Pretty pre-scripted building collapsing" seems to be the beginning and end of BF4 'improvement' over BF3. It seems the more "cinematically scripted" new games become, the less fun they are to play in terms of actual gameplay. And given the game was released by EA (enough said), you can bet all of the premium priced DLC's will take priority over bug fixing...… Expand
Nov 3, 2013Probably the worst battlefield game ever made, reeking of money hungry companies that do not care about the community at all.
After 3 days of game play all that has happened was; me getting completely bored and having to force myself to finish the 7 level campaign that has no story, getting frozen out of the multiplayer servers 50% of the games and losing xp every single time.
Getting spawned on and being killed every 20 seconds in most types of games. But the biggest disappointment is that 80% of the unlocks for multiplayer come from the battlecrates which you either have to pay for, or slowly play on premium(40$) to receive one a week, meaning I cant even use half of the things in the DAMN GAME I JUST BOUGHT.… Expand

Nov 3, 2013I don't even know where to start.. seriously i wonder how they can say its a improved version of the frostbite engine, i run it on ultra settings and it feels like playing farcry 3 with more cartoonish looking soldiers/vehicles than in battlefield 3. Also when you sprint it feels like you skate across the ground compared to battlefield 3 where you actually felt like you were running. That aside i don't know what EA was thinking off when releasing a title which has so many bugs its just a disgrace to the franchise i hope you loose alot of customers on this stunt. Nov 3, 2013WHEN it doesn't crash frequently, it can actually be fun to play. But to think that companies think its ok to release games in this state on PC when most wouldn't dare to release the same on consoles, its quite sad. Thankfully, my refund is already being processed.
Jan 26, 2014Its amazing how little fun I had in this game. What used to be my favorite shooter has slowly devolved into a terrible train wreck. Bad map design, broken gameplay, OP weapons, people killing you with 0% health, and just an overall frustratingly unbalanced mulitplayer. My win ratio is 82% and my KDR is 1.5 and yet I don't have any fun. You don't feel like your doing anything in this game. You'll be in the middle of a firefight with tracers flying everywhere and buildings exploding, yet no one is dying and you cant see anyone to fight. Its bizarre that I can feel like I'm in a combat zone with out any actually combat going on. BFBC2 is still my favorite and will continue to be my favorite BF game. BF4 just goes to show that bigger isnt always better. 64 player matches are too crowded and just result in a cluster of spawn killing and 2 second lives. I wont be buying BF5 and I will be cautious with BFBC3 as Im sure they will screw it up.… Expand
Nov 11, 2013DICE are a crap studio, and they make crap games. They used to make good games, however. Battlefield 4 is just Battlefield 3 with some improvements that should have been there from the start, and Battlefield 3, itself, was a shoddy game, targeting the Call of Duty crowd. The original run of Battlefield games on the PC were entirely different creatures than this new style, and this new style isn't worth half of the original. It's cheap, it's simplistic, it's boring. DICE, these days, are also terrible at map design and UI design. DICE, throughout their history, have been repeated sell-outs, evidently not actually caring one bit about the games they make. As far as I can see, it's all just looking for money with them, and their messed up priorities has caused them to make much less than they otherwise would have. Selling to EA for $5 million right before Battlefield 2's launch? Holy, holy cow. They were too inexperienced and unaccustomed to money and got way to excited at a terrible, terrible, terrible offer, and they jumped on it. Since then, I think they've been desperate to make up some of the massive revenue that they know they lost, and just keep on making highly bad decisions, one after another. They also are one of the worst companies when it comes to releasing stable products. Every release of theirs is drowning in bugs and issues. And they never care, and never improve they actually just keep getting worse. Terrible company, boring game.… Expand
Nov 4, 2013Enemies look like featureless grey slugs on my medium strength machine. I like the You kills vs Foe kills feature, other than that am extremely disappointed. Nov 10, 2013Battlefield 4 promises so much. Sadly, Battlefield 4 is like a gourmet meal spoiled by the chef pouring vinegar over the entire dish.
The graphics is much better than Battlefield 3, and finally the maps aren't just 50 shades of blue. Sound is still in a class of it's own. DICE has reintroduced Commander mode, squad leaders aren't a joke, and a commo rose that works. Changes to the server listing in Battelog means it's quite feasible to run settings close to classic Battlefield without having issues with filling it up.
So on paper, there's a lot to look forward to. But both single player and multiplayer are almost completely ruined by a few but very important core issues. Note I do not mention co-op because Battlefield 4 has no co-op, a surprising and sad move in my opinion.
In the case of the single player it's the story. Sure it's a corridor shooter, but even those can be interesting if the story is good, for example like Spec Ops: The Line or Medal of Honor (2010). While the story in Battlefield 4 isn't as bad as in Battlefield 3, it is not a whole lot better. It contains a handful of bland characters doing things that make no sense, with tons of boring cut scenes and highly predictable plot devices. By trying to make the story as "epic" as possible DICE has completely lost sight of what makes a good and engaging story. In the end the single player is a boring interactive movie which you grudgingly grind through just to unlock a few weapons for the multiplayer.
Now, singleplayer is one thing, but what keeps people player Battlefield has always been it's multiplayer. With gorgeous visuals, rich and engaging sound scape it's hard not to be impressed, even after playing Battlefield 3. However there are a couple of things which are essential to a good multiplayer shooter, and as Team Fortress 2 shows, it's not super-realistic graphics.
The basics are gun play and netcode. Sadly Battlefield 4 fails miserably in both categories. First, the direction the bullets travel and the direction the barrel is pointing are just vaguely correlated in Battlefield 4. Players who are good at controlling the recoil and keeping the aim on target will be punished. Snipers who are quick to react and get the crosshairs back on target will miss. This creates a serious disconnect with the weapons. Add the toned-back-but-still-present suppression effect and you often find yourself thinking you're shooting blanks.
Worse is the netcode. DICE has finally come out and said that improving the netcode is a high priority for them. However the issues that plagues Battlefield 4 has consistently plagued Frostbite games since Bad Company 2. They've had 4 PC shooters using the Frostbite engine with the exact same issues. In my view the most frustrating issues are client-side hit detection and broken chronology, meaning you get hit and die from someone you haven't seen shooting yet, who is pointing a completely different direction or is behind a wall. They are somewhat intertwined, but Bad Company 2 had chronology issues yet with server-side hit detection.
The netcode issues affects vehicles as well. Lock-on warnings which sound immediately before the rocket hits, etc.
With the absolutely fundamental issues more or less completely broken, it's a real struggle to have any fun playing multiplayer. If you just want to sit on a hill, have a few beers and take potshots at the enemy running around some flag then it's not half bad. But it is very far away from being a serious shooter.
Which is sad in a way, as one easily senses there's a lot one could like about Battlefield 4 had it not had vinegar all over it.… Expand
Nov 4, 2013This is by far the biggest disappointment all year, the released a unfinished game with massive server lag, random disconnect from server, and to top it off its just battlefield 3 with water combat. Not only is this game way over hyped they tack on a 60 dollar premium like ever other game has done in the trend. I don't know whats worst free-2-play games or Video games with premiums. I thought mass effect 3, and Bioshock infinite was a big let down but by far this take the cake. nothing worst then aiming at someones head and unloading a whole clip into it, only to realize your both dead nice job dice this will be the last game I buy with your name slapped on it, its just a company trying to compete with the call of duty franchise of how big of a game can i release.… Expand
Nov 4, 2013I dont know how critic can give such big score or some users because facts are different. There is only one truth, that we have in the last few years released games that isnt completed, i dont know why. Maybe because they only look for or maybe they cut down costs, if you have PATCH in first week after release there is good indicator that you doing wrong. They made milions of from the last game, and this is their best? COME ON. I dont know what is happening to the gaming industry, but it's bad.
I'm not going to brag myself, but i need to say how i have monester pc, and after few minutes of playing bf4 i thought the problem is in my video cards, or drivers, or my disc or whatever, god dosent like me and so on, but then i saw the same problems have people who have better (15 000$ pc) and worst systems then me. So I realized there is something wrong with that game, like others that come out in this year unfinished product. So i have about 15 min (the most) long experience in multiplayer, there is a lot, A LOT of bugs, from texture, sound, fading soldiers and so on. And the singleplayer OMG, i still dont know what is worst, single or multi and i am realistic, because if you make such singleplayer where is unreal, fast and incomplete then dont even make half od product. I mean they have the best in the world, and that is not best. You will se on the end what i talk about.
So I go on the start of this post, and ask myself how come there is guys who are in the games everyday, who are "pro" in their line of work, give game like this 10, or 9. HOW? Base on what? They get money for their score? Look at the user score and critic score, something is wrong here, I belive in users like me, because most of us are real, and we give score base on facts and actual situation.
With milions of and few year in building progres they deliver THIS!? What is new here? This games become like sports game, the same game, just diffrent year on the cover, and you pay full price. People are not stupid, they will not buy unfinish crap all the time.
The gaming industry has become too greedy and they dont see the full picture, they have money in their eyes, not gamers, and that is sad. This is not the first game that need first day patch, and that make me sad. Because I once enjoyed in games, when you buy it, you know that is final product, now you dont know WHAT TO EXPECT!?!?… Expand
Nov 2, 2013The multiplayer is so riddled with bugs, and it crashes every 5 minutes. It's unplayable in its current state. The campaign is horrible and seems tacked on. It's far too easy even on the hardest setting. Would not recommend it until the bugs/crashes are fixed.
Nov 4, 2013Ive registered here to write my review of this game cause it give me alot of nerves.
Single player is full of BUGS! Sometimes you cant even finish level cause some enemy go under ground. Game crashes to Windows, after loading checkpoint I stuck in some place forever. I dont mention that checkpoints are 30 min game from each other so when you will fail in 29 min of mission bam you need play it allllll again. Waste of time.
I was fan of BF3 and I like single also but BF4 is really buggy and crappy. OFC graphics are very good but sorry they release unfinished crap! Shame on EA, shame on Dice!… Expand
Nov 4, 2013Lags. DLC for BF3. Lags again. Crashes, bugs. Teamplay more like deathmatch. Horrible level design (except for Paracel one). All of this calls itself "newest modern massive action game". For 40$.
How about NO. I really sorry about my 40$, I've never spent it so useless way. NEVER.
Nov 7, 2013I´m rating this 0. It´s not because I think it deserves it, its because I think that it has way higher user score than it deserves.
What we got, was a unfinished game with thousands upon thousands of bugs.
You find invisible walls in the game, LOTS of texture bugs, spawningsystem.
The optimization is CRAP. The gunplay feels more COD like, not the best way 2 describe it, but the point is that i find it WAY better in bf3. Not gonna say much about the netcodes (People complain about it everywhere).
Killcams itself up all the time. Campaign is short, and has a damn ending. AI is better than in BF3 but still not that good.
I also find the maps in bf3 way better. TDM and SQDM is completly in bf4. The graphics are much better which i like quite alot. They say that there is LOTS of more destruction in the game, but it doesnt feel like it. Maby the destructiion doesnt really have the same impact on the game as it did before.
The levelation works fine, nothing special really. The best Thought that the diving would be cool, but sadly you cant swim downwards, its like going prone, you swim just under the watersurface.
The biggest problem about the game which i don't see any way to fix. Is the similarity between bf3 and bf4. It feels like the same game. You'll get bored quite fast of it.
This is just a portion of the negative things i could say about it. But im not going 2 waste more of my time here.
If you buy both premium and bf4, you get 1/2 game for the price of 2.… Expand
Jan 21, 2014Let me start out by saying that I have purchased every battlefield, ever made..Loved bad company..wish they kept bad company..but they didnt and for that they are a bunch of asshats at EA..
That being said, i honestly thought that they took a huge stupid step releasing this game on origin only and you have to play it from a web browser but that's besides the point.
I said i wouldn't get it but it was on sale black friday so i got it. i got the "deluxe" edition, which is **** it says you have the expansion pack "china rising"..what they didn't tell you those no good **** is that "premium customers" get to "unlock the content" two weeks before everyone else..that stung for a bit..why in the sam hill would i purchase it if that was the case? the deluxe edition no less? all to get your hard earned **** cash thats all it is.
the game was released in what, November? rushed to try and beat the call of duty sales(which as much as cod sucks, it will never beat call of duty i am sorry i hate to admit, i don't play it but they won't outsell it). I played the game in beta because i own battlefield 3 and when i played the game it was just like the beta.
my video drivers are up to date..my windows is up to date..pc is pretty good pc but i still got the error saying my video card wasnt the updated version(which it was) and that i could still run the game but it might crash and not cooperate..
well crash it did..constantly..stuck on the **** loading screen. disconnected from games..so i uninstalled and resinstalled it, thinking maybe i had missed something..but no. i tried talking to my man hajib over there, the lovely customer service rep and he was dumb as a stone, offered no help just wanted to see a screen shot of my dxdiag.
I hate to say this..but i am done with the battlefield franchise..i work too hard for my money to be let down. I can't rate this game fully because i didn't enjoy it fully. so the bottom line is if you liked battledfield? stick with the 2nd one, hell if u can stand the web browser and origin even the third one..but ea has gotten my money for the last time..may the rot on the vine and finally get the same dick in their **** that they have been giving us customers for years… Expand

Nov 17, 2013Playing BF-series from the BF1942 and this one is complete disappointment. Levolution is nothing just some fallen buildings. New ballistics are terrible, liked BF3 ones more.
It would be a good DLC, almost the same as battlefield 3 but with new maps, it would be a good game, but does not deserve a title Battlefield 4, look at the difference of Battlefield 2 for 3 for example, is a very big difference, the 3 for almost 4 does not change anything, I as a fan of the series I was very disappointed. Dec 8, 2013Review update. Pretty much ignore all the fan boys giving this a 10, the only way this game will be fixed is if people are honest. Even the big youtubers who need this game to succeed so they can keep their jobs are critical of this at the moment. I have over 650hrs in BF3 and 100hrs now on BF4. I am trying to like this game but I am now starting to think this game is broken to it's core. EA is finally acknowledging that they have a problem as they have suspended all work on the DLC's to attempt to fix this game. I hope they can, but I doubt it.
Major flaws -
*Continued crashes even after two patches. Not as frequent but still there. (I have a titan, i7, win 8 etc etc top of the line rig 6 months ago).
*Spawn problems, you have a black screen when you spawn where you cant do anything but others see you can kill you, leading to your death even before you "spawn".
*poor spawn locations ie Daybreak spawns you in the middle of the road which compounds the above problem.
*Lag in the servers that seems to increase the longer the games continues. Not sure if the net can handle all of the increased data due to Levolution. Was not a major issue in BF3 way worse in BF4. Being killed behind walls is way worse than BF3 especially after the china rising patch (for me anyway, starting to become unplayable).
*poor hit recognition not sure if this is due to the built in lag, but sometimes even a still target at close range can't be hit. (even after the patches see youtube)
*have not fixed the minor annoyances of BF3 ie rockets seem to disappear in air if the firer is killed before it hits the target. Almost impossible to shoot someone jumping over an object. Phantom walls/rocks which stop bullets. Phantom twigs on the ground which stop you in mid -sprint until you jump over it etc etc.
* Major weapon rebalancing needs to be down Ie DMR useless at moment. Attack chopper useless (not a bad thing) This is no a big issue as it will be fixed over time as some weapons get nerfed or buffed.
*numerous other problems see youtube, reddit etc.
I still hold out hope this game will be fixed as I have loved all of the previous BF games, but still after 2 patches and almost two months this game is still broken. I still have to give this a 2 out of ten, but will happily change this when (fingers crossed) this is fixed. Previous review below.
"Great game, great maps, great concept, but mega fail on execution, think SimCity. Every second to third game, the servers crash, leading to mega frustration. Once they get the servers up and running will be a great game, but they had the same problem in the beta and still have not fixed it. I would recommend save your money for now and look at purchasing it post Christmas when it goes on sale."… Expand
Nov 4, 2013Ill be honest, at first i thought this was great, but the more i play the worse i realize it is, the attack helis are still blatantly op with a half decent pilot and gunner, being able to destroy just about anything with relative ease, spawns are terrible in some game modes, the netcode is straight up broken as are the servers. a decent game but too much is wrong with it for a decent review.
Nov 3, 2013A sore disappointment in the series. While this game still has potential of surpassing Battlefield 3. It fails by a long-shot. Call me a hater. I played every Battlefield game and loved every moment of each one. But this game is not Battlefield. With bugs ranging from connection problems, graphical errors (during the first few days my game looked like a colorful mess), spawning is horrid on almost every map (I get sniped instantly), I cant even load into a Conquest or Rush server because the load times are so long that I just get disconnected due to a map change. Forcing me to play TDM or other smaller map gamemodes. Anyone who says this game is great from the start is completely wrong. I could compare this start to SimCity. (Yeah that bad) I wasnt even able to play the campaign for 5 minutes without crashing. I even lowered my settings to lowest, and Im only able to get an extra 10 minutes of gameplay.
Although this game does have potential. I am severely disappointed in DICE and EA for pushing this game out to early. It needs more time for development. No one should buy this game at its current state.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013BF4 is the worst game of the series, stupid and short campaign, crashes, bugs, lags, freezes, progress in MP doesn't save, server crashes. I can't even play one round without crash!!! Levolution looks just like stupid childish explosions, 2 years they were making it, Frostbite 3 is much worse than Frostbite 2. The only positive moment is graphics, but... The AI is just awful.
Nov 4, 2013Wow dice ,this time you did sure manage to rustle my jimmies to the max. As a veteran player since Battlefield 1942 i can only say that the game is aiming towards COD game play mechanics, of course the levolution and great ammount of customizations might really attract people while people like me will avoid the product at all costs seeing how much of a disaster it is compared to other battlefield series.
We all know that battlefield has a great history of awful campaigns ,but this one is just absolutely empty. The plot is really uninteresting, even though it tries to give us a brief overview of characters the game ends too soon to make us feel anything for them. Story has to show all vehicles (air/ground/water) not just few of them and it really lacks freedom in game play ,i mean really its battlefield series after all so i would at least expect possibility to change story path by choosing my own actions The end mission decision really does not count). But never mind the story mode ,lets talk about the diamond of the battlefield series.
The Multiplayer. Oh my god ,the multiplayer. I will not lie ,i did have some fun playing it ,but i could as well say that i did have some fun playing call of duty for 30 minutes and threw it in my games box afterwards. We all know about these common pc crashes (applies to single player too) and disconnects that seriously hurt when you are having a clan match, these problems SHOULD NOT EXIST, as the beta was absolute disaster we should at least expect technical improvement after so much torture, but no ,it really feels like the focus of all time was the consoles even though the game plays nearly as awful. A personal issue for me would be the sniper class, in hardcore mode they are absolute quick scope master class ,i am saying that because i tried the class and i got 300 kills in about 6 hardcore matches. We all know that at the moment air rules the battlefield as the ground vehicles were nerfed while air was powered up to the max ,you can dominate the battlefield without any unlocks.
I will give this game a 0 ,not because it is that awful ,but because the Dev's did not put effort in the things that make battlefield play like BATTLEFIELD. I am really disappointed, because i spent around 600$ to improve my pc so i could run the game flawlessly ,while it really doesn't show any features that should require such expensive gear.
I love battlefield series and i will not tolerate if this game gets destroyed because of devs focus towards unecessary features instead of what the game really is about.… Expand
Nov 17, 2013I am very confused with these straight 10 votes on here as this game is incomplete. It was clearly rushed Do not purchase this game. Wait for it to be fixed and the price to come down. The fact that I paid 60 Euros for a Beta Test environment is outrageous. Its basically a map pack. EA doing what it does best milk your loyalty for cash.
Dec 4, 2013If you have a long standing clan and dont want to hand the reigns to someone else. This is a good way to cause it to implode as people leave in frustration. This game is a disaster. Dont get me wrong, if it worked properly. It would have been a 7. However, it doesnt. The technical issues are many and critical. Updates through Origin & Battlelog are causing mass issues which prevent people actually being able to play the game. If they are able to get in, a lot crash to desktop. (EA have been "working on it" since launch.
For me, even the experience of trying to buy it was problematic as it was for many thousands of other people. I suspected then that one of EA's main releases of the year was going to miss its target. A product you cant actually buy because the bit of middleware no one wanted doesnt fulfill the very fundamental role of actually being able to take order!!!??
The CEO of EA must be asleep at the wheel. The ill feeling and number of people that consider the long standing Battlefield series over grows daily. Then again, wasnt that the same CEO that was reported as saying that all PC gamers were pirates or why would they use a PC for gaming comment.? Fortunately, or as it panned out, unfortunately, Amazon could and did take an order for it.
Widespread sound issues (You have to experience them to know just how annoying they are).
Unreliable server connectivity
Black screening during loading and crash to desktop issues.
Best of all, hit detection which not many trust..... pretty fundamental to an FPS. BC2 was excellent. BF3 was exploited and hacked like crazy damaging the reputation of what is for me the best graphical engine of its type for any platform.
BF4 all of the above except a lot of people that brought it cant often play it since the recent patch.
Apparently, the EA solution to dealing with complaints is of course to outsource to a call centre in India. In recent years this has become an example of contempt for customers in and of itself and the game in its present state is consistent with this policy for a lot of us that really tried hard to be open minded and give it a fair try even after having to deal with the abomination that it is Origin. As fine a sales prevention tool as the industry has yet been able to create.… Expand
Nov 4, 2013battlefield 4 is battlefield 3 nothing more. I'm a big fan of the BF games but now it's just sucking the money and not the promotion of franchise. They better do about WW2 give a fresh breath of air instead they chase to Activision with their CoD insteed (sorry for bad english)
Dec 2, 2013The game earns 3 out of 10 points solely through the efforts of map designers. Everything else is crap and need to be fixed. This game have no pause option (hello dreamhack), crappy game balance, creepy spectators mode, a lots of network bugs. All of this make this game unplayable and certainly not worthy $100
Nov 9, 2013Playing this game is a pain. You understand what it meant to be, but you see how bad it is done. Some parts of the game amaze me (sounds, visual effects). But this is not a movie. This is a game where you have to control, move, shoot. All those things that you actually cannot do in this game simply because it crashes every important moment. Even single player crashes to me. Have to repeat missions again and again because some coding monkey (sorry cannot call this programmer) forgot to write tests.
I do not talk about multiplayer. It doesn't exist yet. Netcode was written in late 90s. Still remains unchanged. Since game launch developers did not care about anything. They appeared only once, when ALL servers were crashing every 5 minutes.
Want to play good game? Look elsewehere. Want to play multiplayer? Look elsewhere. Want to spend all evening raging because game doesn't work? That's your game! Buy it now!

Nov 6, 2013Battlefield 4 is poorly optimized garbage at this point. My system has never had major issues on any games old or new. I picked up BF3 premium several years after launch, and my modest system pushed it hard on ultra settings filling my LED with glorious 60fps. Obviously, I didn’t expect to get Ultra 60fps on BF4 without some overclocking and possibly a gpu upgrade. But even had I upgraded, the cpu spikes, constant crashes, loss of audio, and abysmal server performance render new hardware moot. The newest Radeon card isn’t going to prevent 40% cpu spikes that cause stuttering and lag like I’ve never seen before. The spikes can be extreme and being knifed or sniped during those moments is irritating to say the least.
To add insult to system failure, the game is essentially more of the same. As expected, the campaign is short, but it lacks the depth of BF3’s story which by comparison was somewhat enjoyable. The multiplayer interface has been slightly revamped. But nothing ground breaking. The maps are clearer for easier spawning and customizing loadouts is somewhat simpler. Overall, the changes are so minor that it feels nothing more than reskinned BF3. In fact, many things are the same as BF3. The controls are the same as BF3. The ingame intel alerts are the same as BF3. Many are the vehicles are the same. And I’m convinced that some of the maps are redrawn BF3 maps. There are new features, like commander mode. But the question remains: Did Dice change enough?
Does BF4 have anything to offer? The graphics are better. However, they are not good enough to justify buying the game. Why buy a game to crank up supersampling when there is the 100% certainty that your $2000 rig will crash at some point? This game can only be a buy when all the bugs are fixed. The ironic part of this debacle is that AMD based systems are being hit especially hard by the game-breaking optimization issues. DICE loudly touted that BF4 is “optimized” for AMD machines because PS4 and Xbox One are using AMD cpu/gpu’s. This “optimization” did not carry over to PC’s. So hopefully next gen console gamers will enjoy a stable product. PC gamers got screwed.
In BF4, DICE and EA followed the Activision formula: If it isn’t broke don’t fix it. This game could aptly be called Battlefield 3.5. Hopefully the patches and expansion packs will address concerns that DICE has been sleeping thru the testing phase of development. Unfortunately, I’m getting the distinct feeling that we might have a Crytek clone in DICE. Dice loudly trumpets its game engine but releases products that are only half finished. For gamers who enjoy BF3, stay with that game a while longer. BF4 is too buggy to recommend. Besides, the games are just too similar. Wait a few months, and pick it up on sale. Hopefully will have its act together by then.… Expand
Nov 13, 2013No, this is not the game we were promised, this isn't the game we were shown at Gamescom, E3 etc etc. This game, while it may be fun while you can enjoy it. Is one of the buggiest games I've ever had to play on launch. "Now hold on a second, you're just saying that because you hate the franchise and you've never played it before Blah Blah Blah." Well you're wrong, while I may not be the most die hard Battlefield fan I've been playing since bad company one all the way through and you know what? On launch there was never any problems of on the same level that are in BF4.
This is why I'm giving it such a terrible review, because while the gameplay may be amazing as we were promised, you'll never get to experience it with all the crashes, and it isn't just me experiencing this, around the world people haven't been able to play the buggy mess that is BF4. So if you want my advice, go out and buy BF3 premium, you'll get your money's worth, because it's been several weeks and EA isn't looking like patching the game anytime soon...… Expand
Nov 9, 2013It could sound like a joke, but my review is Campaign-focused.
The game can have two praised features. It could be an entertainment and/or art. Only latter could be given to BF4. While the graphics and sounds are far superior to what we are seeing nowadays, then such thing has huge price: a gameplay value. Not everyone has access to the Internet at all times and many people (I included) care a lot about campaign. Unfortunately, BF4 has identical flaws to the predecessor in this regard. Single Player Campaign is short, forgettable and full of painful scripts. Well, I know it's FPS and I shouldn't expect a long-lasting action competing with any Grand Theft Auto's storyline, but please; if I am a noob amongst plenty of skilled players, then I would really like to enjoy the game alone. Playing against computer does not frustrate and an interesting story would really aid in keeping me playing.
If you read other player's reviews about multiplayer, you'll understand why BF4 is over-hyped, that's why I skipped it.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013Battlefield 4? I'm still waiting for this game. What I have that has been foolishly named Battlefield 4 would be more accurately called "Call of Battle, Modern Field Warfare".
The game looks like I'm playing Modern Warfare, not a bad game but its not Battlefield.
The sad fact is, they spent more time creating the game for the console tards than actually making a game for the general public and keeping it in the scheme of Battlefield 3. The graphics aren't as good as 3.
The worst part is, if you are playing on PC your game crashes far too much for enjoyable game play. What the hell was the beta for if they can't fix that pre release? Dice say they fixed the hitmarkers, this is a lie. There seems to be a lack of quality all round, The sound drops out, textures go away at times, sniping is made way to easy and the hud in jets and choppers is such a bad colour you cant see it at times while flying.
If I didn't know any better I would say the game was rushed to market.
The new aspect of course being commander. What a boring game mechanic, You sit there and do what? drop things strategically while your whole team is just messing about. Its a great concept but heavily floored.
Despite the above mentioned though, I enjoy Call of Battle, Modern Field Warfare. Though that could just be down to my squad… Expand
Nov 10, 2013BF4 would be an great FPS if they would just have taken the time and complete the game before release. Like it is now 1 of 2 matches end in a crash and when that happen the sound stops working and the speakers need to be deactivated and activated again in soundsettings for the sound to work again.
Veterans aren't all getting the Battlepack that they should.
I don't expect all games to come out bug free. But now it's like the developers aren't even trying any more. Why finish a game before releasing it when you can just fix it with patches. Sure we insult the customer by delivering a product that dosen't work as it should but who cares.… Expand
Nov 3, 2013Why repeating and spitting the same thing out over and over again is acceptable, I'm not sure. We've seen permutations of the same thing coming out repeatedly, and I don't see the need to applaud the effort that went into this game. It's the same old with a glossy new finish, and a couple of tweaks that really should have been included much earlier (like being able to resume reloading). The first person story is a disaster. Not only is it predictable, it denies all sense, and loves riding the sino-russian thing to the grave. We get it. It's an easy idea to run off of. I paid you ~$70. Show me you deserve it. It's not enough to demand that much for basically the same game with only a new gloss--which wasn't really needed for the game experience (yay, realistic sun in my eyes... great, now can i have the key/control that lets me present my realistic hand to block the angle of the sun?.....? well? if you're going to waste so much time adding irritants, you're not doing yourself any favors here...)It's not enough to pay $70 to also update the game and essentially present it as a hacker-free environment... it's going to last for all of 3-6 months at best.
On to the interface. BF3 was ridiculously convenient for navigating squad settings, picking out your weapons and attachments, along with squad perks. It was very quick and easy to access this customization. Despite having played the beta and played this game for a while, the entire thing is still opaque to me. The amount of information available is a bit ridiculous, especially where it neither adds to the game, nor to the player's awareness of the fire-arms.
-3 for a ridiculous single player campaign. Single player was the main driving reason for which I buy games, it also has to be fun to play solo, and re-playable. Some stories are brilliant, and there are games I enjoy re-playing for the single-player component. The single player in this was trash. And that's ignoring the fact that a squad of mentally disabled children would have been more effective for helping you play through the single player than the AI that governs the single-player team-mates.
-3 for what is fundamentally a recycle with a spit-polish. I appreciate that there is only so much that can be done with an idea, but, really, I just don't see what Dice has tried to do in order to keep my loyalty apart from un-necessarily lavishing me with more guns to choose from. I expected the beta release to be fairly elementary. It's not the case. The beta is exactly what you will buy.… Expand
Nov 5, 2013You earned 0 points, EA. Additional scores can be purchased for $19.99 each. First of all, I'm not some COD fan. I'm really not. I've never bought a COD in my life. That being sad, BF4 is the worst. Oh right, BF3 included. I'll compare this game (and BF3) to BF2. 1. Crashes every time. I bought BF3, never got to play it. The browser system was crap, and I couldn't join one server without being 'disconnected from EA'. At least BF4, I got to play. However, every 30 minutes, it crashed. This isn't final product. This isn't beta. This isn't Alpha. This is, PRE-ALPHA. Stop selling sub-par product, EA!!!
2. DLC, cheap marketing
Suuuuuuuuuuuure, selling DLC even before the original comes out? GREAT IDEA! Also, stop selling MOH with the bait of BF series. They said MOH:tier 1 buyers will get EXCLUSIVE BF3 beta. You know what BF3 beta was? OPEN BETA. They said MOH:warfighter buyers will get EXCLUSIVE BF4 beta. Guess what? IT WAS OPEN BETA. Stop with the goddamn marketing schemes. Also, Please stop selling 'battlepacks', which are items in game to rack up more money. That kind of structure is only for free to play. This is BS.
3. Commander mode
BF3 doesn't have it, but at least BF4 has it. That's good right? Nope. NO VOIP to order to squads, and none of any game changing decisions available. Vehicle's ammo is replenished automatically (say whaa?), and repairs are too easy to get. There was a time when commander crates were imperative(bf2), but nooooooo, you don't need it in this structure. Cruise missile is also and AC-130? Guess what? It shoots .22LR. No, it would be better if it shot that. 25mm does no damage (Did experiments. 20 second engagement on standing target has 0 damage), 40mm also has no power at all, and 105mm, if you have a direct hit on human target (direct. has to hit direct.), you might have a chance to kill it. Screw that..
4. Game mechanic.
There's so many things, that I can't even write it all. Missiles aren't missiles. They are super mobile (Even more mobile than THAAD. It's like an insect that can fly at over 300m/s), which can never, ever be outmaneuvered unless you use flares. This "turning around 180 degrees in 0.3 seconds to kill" BS started from BFBC:2.
Unlimited ammo of vehicles, even in hardcore. Ammo is unlimited in this game. Instead, you have a friggin ammo pool or something. Jesus.
BALANCING TO THE MAX: What? Tanks are stronger than infantry? OMG we have to balance it! There you go, now tanks aren't powerful than infantry. What? A-10 can kill tanks? OK then, then let's let tanks be able to destroy jets too! THAT.
There's so much more, but I'll stop for now.
5. Levolution rip-off
Oh so much levolution, such awesome, have to buy this game before it comes out!
repetitive events that keep happening? Sure, that's fun.
Bring down a guard tower in Operation Locker? THAT'S GAME CHANGING OMG! (not)
Yeah... I have to choose perks for vehicles? So, when I'm driving, my tank has anti air, and if my friend takes the wheel by pressing F1, the vehicle suddenly changes to a tank with active protection and HE shells? SOUNDS LEGIT! This is really, really lame. They copied all these 'perk' systems from COD, and I really dislike COD. Hence, I don't like it here.
There's so many things I could say, but I'll stop for now.… Expand
Jan 13, 2014Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.
