Simply put, Blood II is more of the same: more guns and more enemies. Although it's not quite as pant-browning as we would've hoped, it's a stunning achievement considering the time Monolith have had to put it together. [PC Zone]
The first one had some things about it that made you play it and say, “Wow, that was cool. I have never seen anything like that before.” This installment will have you sitting back and saying the same thing.
great game. One one the best FPS on PC. Of course its a very old one so grafx aren't not the best, but music and fun is eternal, so this is definitly a legend
Another "could have, should have" game. While it follows the old school formula a little too much, it can still be enjoyable if you like to annihilate things with big guns.
There are a lot of fresh components laboring to make this a different game, including the engine, but the end result is not at all frightening. Too much emphasis was placed on puerile humor, which I am all for in most games, but I needed something different here.
An utterly ordinary shooter, hidebound by convention and hamstrung by formulaic gameplay. For people who may have only played one or two of these clones before, there's fun to be found. But for the rest of us, it's a pass, even though a lot of time and effort went into making a decent engine and some dark and creepy graphics.
Corridor-shooter gamers in general should be pleased with Blood II, but bloodthirsty fans of the original game may be disappointed. Spilling Blood is still a thrill, but it was more fun the first time around.
I personally think that this video game is far better than Monolith's video game called No one Lives Forever. It's so fun. And there are many weapons which you can use and the soundtrack is great! Too bad a sequel didn't released since then.
Blood 2 the chosen is a game with huge potential and a great concept just like it's previous game, but it fail to be as good as the first game with a repetitive gameplay, but what game is not repetitive?
the game uses the lithtech game engine and it was the second game from monolith to use it's brand new engine, but even for a game releases in 1998 it look's bad, it have an interesting level design in some areas but others were no that great.
the game premise is so simple and the gameplay as well which only consist on shot everything you can, most of the time you'll find yourself in this repetitive level or segment that involve a sub terrain train, this happens like 8 or 9 times in total during the course of the game.
it has a bit of the humor that the game is known for, and just like the first game, make reference to horror films like "The Shining" "Alien" "Predator" like easter eggs hiding in the levels.
It could have potential, but a short production deadline like this game had, really affect the overall product. It had poor sales and it was a bad game that almost cause Monolith to shut down.
Again, it's not a great or perfect game, but definitely a "check it out" game.
After the masterpiece the first one was the second is dull.
Pros.:
- Blood franchise.
- A lot of blood. A LOT.
- Dismemberment and violence.
- Many weapons. Though, many won't be used.
- More feasible story than the first one had.
- Easter Eggs. References to previous projects and AvP.
Cons.:
- Many weapons won't EVER be used.
- Design is very poor - not many items, things in the locations. It is the same stuff that happened in AvP.
- The story is also poor.
- Enemies are dumb.
- Some of the main antagonists have some back story or a bit of a character but it is VERY low. Not like other Monolith projects.
Same case as Devil May Cry 2. A okay game but a terrible sequel to a great game. While this one has it´s fun, it suffers from age in graphics and a HORRIBLE difficulty curve, while the original Blood was challenging it was fair and this one just goes to outright **** in many occasions which becomes extremely irritating really quickly, i think the only good parts are the first couple of levels and weapons and music but...that´s about it, if you´re not a hardcore fan of the original Blood then just stay away from this game.
