Counter-Strike: Source Image
  • Summary: Valve has taken a large selection of the maps from Counter-Strike 1.6 - Office, Havana, Italy, Aztec, Chateau, Cobble, Piranesi and of course eternal favourites Dust and Dust 2, and recreated them for the source engine. This means all new textures and major aesthetic changes with more complex buildings and scenery. In addition, the levels are scattered with objects that react realistically with the Source engine's physics engine. [GamersEurope.com] The game is available through Valve's Steam downloading service and is distributed with "Half-Life 2." Expand

A fantastic conversion of a timeless classic and it has stolen the hearts of the online community once again.
  2. This update has refreshed our love of the game, bringing a new physicality and violence to online shooters. CS:Source is essential. [PC Gamer UK]
  3. Counter-Strike: Source is, once you've gained a knack for it, the most consistently rewarding and surprising team-based shoot-'em-up available on the PC today. It's been dressed up nicely for its relaunch in 2004, but it wasn't broken, and Valve hasn't fixed it.

  1. This is a very good game. But the hitboxes seem random and it does not have the best anti cheat engine. It has a lot of user created content. Very good teamplay. Expand

  2. I've briefly tried out this game at my friend's house, and it was decent. The game is engaging; you can buy, customize weapons, plant bombs, and just go raging all over (and die). However if you are noob this game will be very hard to play; like "AA3" there are no respawns and it's all really a cycle of kill-shoot-kill. If you're a obsessive valve gamer or a critic who loves the fps genre I might recommend the game. But remember; you will drop the game in a few hours. Expand

February 23, 2007 Just for reference, I’ve been playing CS since before 1.5. --As some people have mentioned, the game is visually stunning and I agree!!! --Are there too many hackers?: I’m not the type to panic and start accusing everyone of hacking. --Are there people with bad attitudes or rude players?: Well DUH, you’re playing with anyone and everyone you can… Of course you’re going to meet rude people. --Is the game play too heavy for the slower computers?: Pay attention the recommended type of computer and you’ll be fine. If you don’t have it, don’t get the game (minimum requirements don’t cut it). --Game play: Compared to CS1.6, the game play is TERRIBLE. The need for tactics is gone (other than be the fist one to fire), the hit boxes are terrible (far too many headshots by myself and others, bordering on ridiculous). If you’re looking for a game that instills teamwork and tactics, stick with 1.6. If you think the teamwork and tactics were bad in 1.6, you’ll find that they just got worse in Source. Expand
