  1. Darksiders looks great on PC, thanks to the greater resolution and the lack of tearing. The game itself comes with excellent graphics and nice artistic direction, but its strength lies in its gameplay: War faces hundreds of different enemies, using many different weapons, and there are plenty of puzzles to be solved in each level. Definitely a fantastic action/adventure game, an exercise in game design that can't leave you indifferent.
  2. The PC version of Darksiders proves to be as good as (and possibly even better than) its console counterpart. The brilliant action-platform formula is in fact a winning one, that surely makes Vigil Games' work worth a close look. Considering the lack of action titles on PC, it's a must-have for all those looking for console gameplay on a personal computer.
  3. My feelings towards Darksiders haven't changed a lot since its original release back in January and I'm not hesitating to recommend it despite its technical nitpicks. PC gamers (considering you have a powerful system) have no right to skip this one, it's worth your time and your money.
  4. Is Darksiders really worth the time and the money? Hell Yeah! Darksiders is a fantastic game.
  5. It is, however, a polished, entertaining product and while not a gaming milestone by any means, it represents a solid example of an AAA title, which delivers exactly what it promised.
  6. Skillfully designed to appeal all kind of players, Darksiders is a great action adventure.
  7. Masterfully crafted, Darksiders is clearly a work of passion, and though it borrows a lot of elements from other games, they come together in such a way that will keep you entertained from start to finish.
  8. Darksiders is a fairly good porting of the console experience, more fluid and good looking thanks to the various filters. It's still a shame that PC public has waited so long, without getting anything in return for the patience.

Sure, you've seen it all somewhere before, but Darksiders manages to tie together just about every adventure-game idiom and make it all work.
  10. Darksiders can only be recommended, because it's one of the best hack'n'slay games on the PC. Period.

PC answer to God of War is not without flaws but the lack of competition on the PC platform makes Darksiders an unconditional winner. Be warned - No fun without a joypad! Forget about playing Darksiders with a keyboard and mouse only. [Issue#197]

Not the most innovative of games, but give Darksiders a go and you'll most likely be pleasantly surprised. [Issue#246, p.106]
  13. Darksiders doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it learns from many of the greatest references in videogames to make gamers live a clever, epic and violent experience.
  14. It's a shame there was no bonus content to justify the eight-month long wait, but the excellent core game is kept intact, and is sure to entertain PC gamers, assuming they have a gamepad to play the game comfortably.
  15. It isn't the most full-featured port, but excellent combat and challenging puzzles make Darksiders a brutal blast.
  16. So even though Darksiders isn't remotely innovative and is unabashedly a console port, it does have an entertaining story to tell, fun gameplay, and decent graphics.
  17. As a new franchise it does so many things right and should find a place for itself in a massively crowded market. If War was a more engaging character and the combat more refined, Darksiders would stand as one of the contenders for game of the year.
  18. If you missed Darksiders the first time or if you just stick only to PC gaming, then this one's worth a shot.

I was expecting a cheap God of War Clone, but it's far better than that. For one thing the Horseman War is far more interesting a character than Kratos, whose one-note vengeance act is wearing pretty thin. Great atmosphere, fun combat, very creative puzzles, and some of the best creature design ever. It's a long game with tons of bosses, and they're all awesome looking. New elements are constantly introduced to keep it fresh--grappling hook, horseback combat, and even some Portal dynamics near the end. The biggest criticism is that Darksiders doesn't do anything new, but combining all these great elements from other games so successfully IS something new. Full Review »

On the flip-side, this also means people with past generation cards will be able to play this at decent FPS. Most of the puzzles are moderately interesting, but some are tedious to the point that I just decide to switch the game off, fights are actually pretty good if not for the awful controls. I personally don't recommend this to most people, especially the casual gamers like myself that only got a couple of precious hours a day. As above, this is a hard port from the console, enough said.
