  1. It's not just another cookie-cutter shooter but plays differently in a number of key ways. So if you're looking for a unique twist on the single-player PC shooter, then Dead to Rights is worth your while.
  2. The game’s combat system is competent and fiercely enjoyable for fans of the ‘quick, kill that heavily armed hotelier’ genre.
  3. PC Gamer
A solid action game, but it's no "Max Payne 2" (or "Max Payne, for that matter). [Feb 2004, p.84]
  4. DTR’s good points are largely overshadowed by its enormous faults. Die hard fans of Max Payne and its sequel might find something to enjoy here, but then again it would be difficult for them to take such a big step down.
  5. It lacks the style, glossy finish and gunslinging simplicity of Max, and particularly its unadventurous but hugely enjoyable sequel.
  6. Ultimately though, this is a shallow console experience, especially when compared to the likes of Max Payne 2, and really has no business being on the PC in the first place. [PC Zone]

Not to self: some interesting concepts and lot of technically outstanding mechanics don't make for a good title when delivered improperly.
