• Summary: Diablo III picks up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. Diablo III features a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game's physics-enhanced environments are interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, have been integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play are available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net. [Blizzard Entertainment] Expand

Games this thoughtfully crafted don't happen very often, and the care that Blizzard has taken with Diablo 3 shows in every facet of its design and execution. It might not be perfect, but after 45 hours, I'm not sure where it missteps, and after 45 hours, I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what it has to offer. Diablo 3 is almost evil in how high a bar it's set for every PC action RPG to follow, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that bar remain for a very long time.

It's such a rare thing that my interest in continuing to play a game keeps increasing not just toward the end of the game but past the end, yet somehow the more Diablo I play, the more Diablo I want to play. It doesn't do anything especially new with the action-RPG genre, but it does all the old things very, very well, and sometimes that's more than enough.

Slaying monsters has seldom been this addictive and rewarding, expecially if you play with friends. But the story is boring, the auction house ruins the balance and the variation within each class is too limited.

Okay, so now that we can play the game, Diablo 3 rocks. Normal skill was way too easy, but now that I'm playing on Nightmare, it's a decent challenge and when I get home, all I want to do is kill and loot all night long. Expand

  2. First of: I can´t give Diablo 3 a 0 because the game itself for me is a 10/10. Now to that DRM-Crap: What makes you people (game publishers) think, that DRM is the right way? Do u really think that an internet connection is something that everybody can afford or get easily? I ordered 2 copies of this game to make my cousin in Bosnia a present so he can play Diablo 3 at home and be happy. But wait, he has no internet connection... REALLY??? how can he dare to have no internet connection in a country where most of the people have a average income of like 600 dollars or below? You have to understand that DRM is not only bad for people who just like to complain about everything, it IS bad for all gamers and i don´t know what kind of an idiot marketing manager really believes that this is a good marketing strategy. you are so afraid of piracy that you think that you will starve to death without noticing, that you would sell even more without drm... i even know people in germany who can´t afford an internet connection so even if i buy someone a whole new pc in combination with diablo 3 he won´t be able to play it at home. nice work and have fun generating money, i see that gaming is more and more becoming a privilege for extraordinary moneywasters who can be online 24/7... like me Expand

  3. I made an account for the sole purpose of expressing my anger at the poor quality product I was tricked in to spending my money on. To be fair, the game is quite fun and pretty to look at. It's just that since I purchased it a few nights ago I've only been able to get on the network for a grand total of two hours to play a single player game BY MYSELF. Either it won't let me on, or will tease me for a few minutes before it boots me. I'm glad to see everyones anger at this crap and I hope these crap ratings deter others from purchasing it. If I could return this product I would march down to gamestop and demand my money back. I realize piracy is a complicated issue to control. But I'm getting sick of this whole 'not really owning the things I paid for' thing. I hope the people responsible for screwing this up are having a really bad day. It makes me angry that so many people still crap that companies are having to resort to bs like this. But this isn't the way to do it. I would gladly undergo a slightly more intensive registration process if it meant I could actually play the game I bought without the lag and getting booted. Or not being able to play it at all. I feel like blizzard sold me a product I can't even play. Expand
