As an intellectual experiment, Dinner Date is interesting and even profound. As a meta-narrative about the social constructs that confront the modern man, it fascinates. As a game, it barely qualifies.
Don't listen to the haters who think that all videogames must involve excessive violence and gore. I love me some headshots, but I can also appreciate a different kind of experience, which is what dinner date it.
By being produced by 1-2 guys, this really is a great achievement. The duologue is very interesting. It's worth two playthroughs at least. You play as the subconscious, and don't make nor really control the character and his thoughts, though can influence them. I went through it a third time without touching a single button. Just an awkward young man waiting for his date. Pretty good.
This is a good new experience, not like other games you have played before. You only control some of the movements by the Subconscious of the character in this game, so, don't expect a great interactive story. The graphics are not too good, but you can try them in low spec PCs. A short game, but with a new concept, an expermiental quasi-game that lots of people gonna like and lots of people gonna hate. Is not a masterpiece, but it doesn't deserve zero as rating. Maybe I liked the game a lot because of the way the character link his thoughts while making other things. If you like experimental gameplays, then you should give it a try.
Everything is so beautiful, although I do not recommend the purchase or play this game, because not everyone can experience the game the beauty of the game a short span of 10 minutes, it carefully depicts the anxiety of the protagonist, as well aslook forward to the "she".
An uninteresting and quite idiot character, complaining by yourself about his failed date through bad monologues, in a either uninteresting environment. You just don't need to do anything, really, just sit, wait and watch he's getting drunk and then talking more ridiculous things. It takes 25 minutes.
The concept is not that bad, but even considering yourself like someone who appreciate gaming experiments, this one have nothing to save him. The gameplay isn't good, narration is average and the story/dialogues is really bad.
The first time i play it, i was thinking my choices will matter some way, but i got bored and give up. Now i just try to sit and watch, no hands, so i see the game don't needs you.
Even if this is art, they did it all wrong.
The experience is only 20 minutes long and you play the whole time in 1 single room.
No matter what, Controlling your conciousness feels as "not needed" since the guy keeps talking automaticly, even if you don't do anything the only thing you have to do is drink stuff and smoke.
Its also a bad thing that people who want to stop smoking or drinking and or have a porn problem they are influenced by the rude language in the game and interaction by the objects.
As much as I like supporting indie artists (especially those who work in the video game industry) I can't say anything positive about this title other than It's an interesting premise for a game. Of course, while the idea was grand the implementation method was less than stellar and honestly quite horrible. Even for the cheap, reduced price the payoff is over too quickly and you can easily finish the "game" in less than thirty minutes. However, that's not saying much as the repetitiveness of the gameplay becomes more stale than the dinner bread.
