What did i expect? There's not a bloody soul here. Not a single review. Not by a company, not by a user, nothing. Heck, this place is even emptier than my bank account!
I guess i'm going to be the first huh? So be it! It'll be like Christopher Columbus all over again! Minus his incredible stupidity and love for wearing a collapsed muffin on his head.
So! We're taking a look at a game for kids. Yay. As we know, kids games are mostly somehting to abandon when you're over 10 years old (or something in that range). But some are just too good to be left alone!... clearly we're dealing with such an example!
Well, at least in my opinion. This game plays as you might expect, you play as a f*cking bear. Yeah, awesome, right? Nope! You'd think that playing as a bear would mean that you'd tear everything you see to shreds but, no. Well, first off: this is a Disney game. So don't expect anything too fantastic. Secondly: this is a platformer. With no enemies, only some boss battles... crazy. huh?
To name a few things about this piece of animal rights propaganda it plays like this:
You collect berries from bushes to fill up a bar, once that bar is full you'll be able to use a powerup somewhere in the level. You take damage from red bushes but that isn't a big threat since health is scattered everywhere in the from of fish and acorns.
Your primary collectible are honeycombs which don't do anything other than opening special caves. I didn't studder.
When you've completed a level you'll either be rewarded with a minigame or a boss-fight, simple is that.
I won't say much about the game since most things are explained right in front of you, because, well, KIDS!!!
I do recommend however, that you watch the movie first since... well, if you don't that's be f*cking stupid XD
Still, this game is kinda magical for me. It's one of the few CD games i have left and quite frankly, it's the oldest of the bunch. However, since time has moved on, the game has gotten very buggy. Characters keep interrupting each other because the voicelines are all glitched and sometimes the game speeds up for no apparent reason.
An explaination for this could be that it's poorly programmed but i don't really believe that since i've seen very similar games in perfect condition after almost ten years after it's creation. Another one could be that it's harder to run properly on modern machinery. And that is true, as years and years pass, more and more games wither away as they will never see the light of day again.
So i beg you, use Windows 7. If you don't... well, f*ck you.
Here's the juicy summary:
+ The game is simple and doesen't require any skill,
+ Atmospheric as hell,
+ Soundtrack is awesome.
- Runs poorly after almost ten years, at least that's kinda' expected,
- Short as hell.
- Buggy at times.
I highly recommend that you pick this game up if you have the chance. It's very hard to find and even then, it's mostly not worth the money. But, for what it is, it's pretty damn good. I won't say anything about it because i want you to experience it for yourself.
And by that: This game gets the score:
