  • Summary: Too long have you been confined to this mortal realm. Too long have you been denied what should rightfully be yours. Are you not a god? Should you not be the One True God of this miserable dirtball? Yet there are others that dare challenge your authority. Pretenders to the throne, with their false priests and prophets. These miserable creatures that have the audacity to impugn your rightful place in the cosmos! But you will show them, won't you? Gather your armies, raise your fortifications, and let loose the dogs of war! The time has come to assume your proper position, to crush your enemies beneath your boots and take what is meant for you. [Shrapnel Games] Expand

  1. It can stand on its own as probably the best 4X strategy game of the past five years. [Feb 2004, p.67]
  2. Enjoying Dominions II involves marshalling the power of your imagination to breathe life into all the detail, which is what gaming is all about when it was played on tabletops. If you accept this basic premise, there's no fantasy game more epic, varied, and vivid than Dominions II. [Feb 2004, p.82]
  3. A deep, engrossing strategy game with a steep learning curve. Should be in any fantasy strategy gamer’s collection.
  4. The real draw is the depth of the game. This is not a title for the casual turn-based strategic gamer. This is a title that requires thought, patience and a solid foundation in the game mechanics.
  5. If you’re trying to learn the game from the manual, you might be in for a slow time. However, once you get the basics of how the game is played, you’re going to be in for a treat.

If you can get past the faults of the interface and almost complete lack of guidance, there actually is an interesting game underneath it all.
  7. A game that offers tremendous depth but also has an unwieldy user interface and a prodigious amount of micromanagement.

This is the most addictive, most incredible, most fun strategy game I have ever played, and I have played them all. EVERY SINGLE ONE EVER. This is so much richer in gameplay, detail, originality, and atmosphere than any other strategy game I've played that I could just VOMIT. Expand

Probably the best turn based strategy game in memory. If you can get past the clunky interface and lack of documentation you will find it quite worthwhile. Expand

Wonderful game. I have not played nearly all strategy games, but this is the best of the lot. If you ever loved Master of Magic, try this out! There are not that many killer strategies, but versus AI many are still found... Just remember that humans have answers for those! Check the publisher's site, for the patch adds much, including modding... And you can get the walkthrough from there, with which you can learn the basics. Expand
