  • Summary: Everyday Shooter is an album of games exploring the expressive power of abstract shooters. Dissolute sounds of destruction are replaced with guitar riffs harmonizing over an all-guitar soundtrack, while modulating shapes celebrate the flowing beauty of geometry. [Queasy Games]

  1. And if I were developer Jonathan Mak, I'd ask for a lot more than $9 for a game this fresh, this unique, and this enjoyable. [Aug 2008, p.62]

This game is worth getting simply for the audio-visual experience. It's incredibly rare to come across a top-down shooter that actually conjures a palpable atmosphere; that wants to lull you into a daydream yet demands your rapt attention.
  3. A tough be very enjoyable hallucinogenic shooter that's well worth the money. [Issue#15, p.68]
  4. Worth a look for those who remember when shooters were tough (and own a good controller). [Aug 2008, p.109]
  5. Fantastic soundtrack with integrated riffs and tunes. [Aug 2008, p.70]
  6. An artful but mild shooter. [Aug 2008, p.78]
  7. If I had to judge this shooter after the first level, I'd have no mercy. Luckily the next stages show that it needs none of it. No two levels are truly alike, and the need to figure out the chain reactions turns the Everyday Shooter from a fragfest into a challenge. [July 2008]

Nice Aesthetic, great learning curve, low price. I think this is a fantastic game. It has a distinctive artistic style, which is full of small helpings of cleverness. The learning curve has its ups and downs, but overall has a nice flow. and the creator includes his own high scores as challenges (please note that all of his challenges involve using the minimum 3 lives). The graphics are pleasing and the sounds are relaxing. Perhaps most importantly, the game is inexpensive, I got my copy for 8 dollars on steam. I've put in 18 hours, and there is still one level I haven't unlocked. Collapse
