  1. A "gateway" game. It’s friendly enough for first time players, but it’s got all the things to keep you playing and become a hardcore racer. (It’s even got options to show you the best trajectory and supply driving tips.) But even the hardcore simmer will find F1RC a challenge and realistic.
  2. 92
Because of the depth of the physics, setups, and customizable AI, you'll have your hands full as long as you want.
  3. The finest modern-day F1 simulation currently available. [Mar 2001, p.75]
  4. It enhances a number of the original game's features, adds a handful of new ones, and, ultimately, it will undoubtedly please racing enthusiasts and interested beginners alike.
  5. As a patch it would be near-perfect; it successfully addresses several key concerns, adds one seriously compelling new element, and generally turns a very good racing experience into an exceptional one. Certainly, this is the game EA should have released in the first place.
  6. Take ("F1 2000") and speed up the graphics a bit, add a new training mode, polish the AI, and offer rainy day racing and all the real-life grids from the 2000 Formula One season and you've got F1 Championship Season 2000.
  7. To tell the truth, this whole product should have been a giant patch for F1 2000 rather than a standalone sequel.
  8. The dismal gameplay coupled with the subpar framerates make this play more like a B-grade no-name title rather than the AAA title it was supposed to be, and that's just not forgivable.
