At last Firefall came out from its everlasting beta period, as a solid MMO/TPS meant to be played with a small group of friend. It's not a revolution, but has its interesting peculiarities.

Firefall has its problems. There’s no denying that, but after spending a little time with it, I found myself having a pretty decent time. Sure, it does feel wonky at times, but I couldn’t help but keep playing.

Firefall is a very well-constructed MMO framework that lacks a heart, soul or reason to return. [Issue#253, p.76]

Firefall is middling. If you have free time to spare, the fact that it won’t cost you anything to try is a huge win. If it manages to sink its teeth into you over the first few hours, you might just be hooked. Personally, I’ll pass.

It's not a world that I want to stick around to save.

In the end, the experience Firefall offers is one that’s almost there. It’s almost a fully engaging, entertaining shooter. It almost tells a fairly good story. Its systems almost feel worth the time, or money, you would put into seeing them through to their end. It’s almost there, but in the end, Firefall falls short.

All Firefall’s opening does is shove your face right up against grubby textures, shoddy animations, and invisible walls. Your first two hours with it will see you retreading ground completing repetitive fetch quests for characterless NPCs in a world that does nothing to excite the eye...You have to wade through that swill of a beginning to understand Firefall’s potential.

I've had nothing but fun with Firefall, since it was just a small game with a little bit of PvP, to the expansive world we have now. The dev team has been so awesome, always chatting and communicating with players, and that is so rare these days!

There are definitely things that need work in this game. Since the game was pushed to launch likely do to investors breathing down their neck, there is a lot of room for addition. But since launch, key systems have been made and the ability to add content rapidly has been given to Red 5. So in the long run, we should see a remarkable game, full of potential, and stories to give to to other players.

Firefall's finally launched, and it was worth the wait. Red 5 studios has completely remade the game that was known for it's 'eternal' beta, and now has a real gem: It has the progression and content flow of an MMO, but the fun moment-to-moment gameplay of a shooter. I'm having a blast. Only question on my mind is: which battleframe (character class) to level up next? Expand

The battleframes system is what I like the best here. I can change the way I play my character anytime I want and I'm not restricted to stick to 1. The loot is very rewarding. Of course, a few level of difference in the loot won't be noticeable. But when you get a really good one... you feel the hard hit of your bullets to the enemy.

The setting has a lot of colors and looks really gorgeous. This is Borderlands with mmo infused in it.

    A must play.

    The combat itself is wonderful.

Any player, from a seasoned vet to a less twitch-oriented MMO fan looking to support their allies, should
find something to love in the five classes

Even though every class is a fully capable battle platform in its own right – even the medics’ guns pack a hell of a punch!

the levelling is also not that hard to follow 2-3 days will you good level with all the necessary equipment needed, the battleframes classes are awesome im going medic!

Stealth Nerf's are constant in this game. They do not know how to fine tune things and instead swing the pendulum from side to side hoping the few seconds it is good is sufficient to keep customers around, then they dont tell you it is being done.

For a game that has been in beta for 3 years it feels more like its just starting beta. Lack of content is another major issue.
The Costs associated with crafting are abysmally brutal.
8560 credits to unlock the ability to craft high level gear in one tree, that does not include the costs associated with getting to that point. Then the costs really begin. 20K credits worth in mats to be able to make it. Or the equivalency of grinding for the mats for weeks on end.

Bottom line, its a game that had a ton of potential and they squandered it. They have repeatedly thrown out what was good and thrown in something untried that people did not want.
