  • Summary: The action and drama of the American Civil War comes to life in this new game from the creators of "Gods & Generals." The outcome of the war that divided a nation, split families and changed the course of history is now up to you! You're a Company Commander on the front line of the bloodiest battle ever fought. Crucial decisions will impact the lives of thousands of men, so make sure your battle plan is airtight! Musty, death-filled air surrounds you at Bull Run or... feel the bitter cold of Fredricksburg as Gods and Generals puts you in actual battlefield settings as you fight to "Preserve the Union" or "Save the Confederacy"! 1. This shooter's imbecilic AI and laughable weapons-modelling all scream "rush job," through each of its nine sleep-inducing missions. [July 2003, p.75]
  2. Outdated graphics, bad sound, lousy control, horrible technical performance, nonfunctional computer AI, terrible weapons--the game has about every problem you could possibly think of. In fact, it's difficult to imagine that Gods and Generals could be much worse than it is.
  3. A nightmarish collection of bad ideas, bottom barrel production values, and exists only to steal $19.99 from the pockets of passionate Civil War fans that deserve better. [July 2003, p.86]

Thank god I'm only borrowing this from a friend, I wasn't dumb enough to go blow $20 on it. This is one lousy excuse for a FPS. Obviously the development team doesn't want you to use anything but the pistol (a lame one at that). The "muskets" or "pixels arranged in the shape of a musket" is apparently one-shot disposable, because your character is too stupid to pick ammo and reload it. When the cannons blow up, they disintegrate into thin air and cease to exist, not a single scrap of wood or steel is left. (If i set off a H-bomb that would be understandable but a crude Civil War hand grenade?) This is the first Civil War FPS I've seen but its just about as good as another AOL-cd coaster. Expand
