This is one of the best graphic adventures we've played in the last few years, at least with classic gameplay mechanics. Great story, great characters, great puzzles… and one of the best closures for a trilogy we've seen in a while.
Goodbye Deponia has a bumpy ride towards the ending, but is able to entertain nonetheless. It won't pose the hardest challenge around, but will keep you smiling while going forward and at times it will even make you laugh really hard.
Goodbye Deponia succeeds as the weakest entry in the franchise, with moments that rival the best. In many ways, this third entry has taken some tumbles, with neither puzzles nor characters as imaginative and challenging as the watermark left by its predecessor.
It’s a shame that it’s so often frustrating and inscrutable, and a bigger shame that some of the humor skews toward the cringe-worthy. Goodbye Deponia feels as though this trilogy never quite made it to its own comedy Elysium, even though it was capable of reaching those heights.
Unfortunately, Goodbye Deponia is a wasted effort by Daedalic because it's marred by a series of bad moral decisions, and the protagonist is the epitome of unlikeable.
This title, as well as all the other ones in the saga share a handful of characteristics that make them the best modern-era point-and-click games, they are:
-A protagonist which is both very charming and a complete idiot
-Incredibly gorgeous artwork
-Very good plot (although I gotta say the end of the whole saga is rather dissapointing)
-Beautifully crafted puzzles which are very satisfying to complete
-Very well-made character personalities (Lottie, Toni, Bozo, Cletus and McChronicle to name just a few)
-Really good ambientation, both in the post-apocalyptic Deponia as in the utopic Elysium
-Rufus and Goal make a pretty silly and somewhat adorable couple
I honestly find no way in which any human being could play Deponia and not enjoy it other than if they dislike point-and-click adventure games as a whole.
Not hilarious but fun as the prequels. Good play time (i finished the game in just over 20 hours). Not hard, not too easy - pretty much a smooth ride all throughout, except for a couple tricky places.
My main complain is the English sound - sound optimization for English version seemed to have missed the quality check entirely. Sound compression, balancing, equalizing are not well done, especially when it comes to Organon speaking. And when Organon starting singing their hymn for the first time - my eardrums, i'm afraid, were permanently damaged. Same issue plagued the first and second part, but Goodbye Deponia takes the cake. I wonder if the original German has similar issues.
Overall, a good continuation of the series, well drawn locales, nicely written dialogue, joyful puzzles.
RECOMMEND.
This is **** game from deponia series and most horrible ending I have seen right after mass effect. Furthermore, most of jokes and scenes not funny at all. Whats happened to you, old good Deponia? Don't play it.
Great humour but a huge step back when compared to Memoria. Don't expect anything to ever make sense in this game; it never does. Only random guesswork will get you anywhere, as it suffers from the worst "puzzle" design i have seen in a long time. Very disappointing.
