This title is outright disastrous. It was obviously released without thorough or perhaps any testing. The game is rife with design and performance problems and ultimately is unplayable.

And in the process of keeping it real, I have to comment on Forsaken Gods' combat system, which is -- without a doubt -- the worst I've ever encountered in a game.
  3. This stand alone expansion brings the player back to Myrtana, delivering a good storyline. Sadly, every flaw of the predecessor is there. The engine is still heavy and non optimized, and the same bug-fest we all remember hasn't been solved at all. Only for die-hard fans.
  4. When any of the Gothic series games come out without any fatal bugs the game achieves an 8+ rating for sure. But this day didn’t come with Forsaken Gods. Maybe next time. [Feb 2009]
  5. It looks like JoWood didn't learn much from releasing a bug-ridden Gothic 3 game. The new add-on is full of bugs, too. But even without them, the game wouldn't be as good as the other recently released RPGs. At least the quest and the story are well done.
  6. Trash. There is no other word for Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods. Not only this expansion is buggy and horribly designed, it's simply useless.
  7. A downright frightening army of bugs both scares away any potential fan of Gothic and eliminates any fun that could have been had with the game. [Issue#17]
  8. Because no matter how much they fix it, Forsaken Gods is a very poor title. I didn’t like it, I don’t recommend it and I am saying that not without regrets, because we’re still talking about a Gothic game.
  9. Only die-hard fans of the Gothic franchise will be able to overlook the games terrible technical shortcomings. Forsaken Gods hits rock bottom of what was once a great roleplaying series.
  10. Forsaken gods? Rather forsaken legacy and a blatant ripoff. After two years of development we receive a game with a plethora of bugs, jerky graphics and frequent crashes to the desktop, a game that strips this franchise of the pitiful remains of its former glory. [Jan 2009]

I actually really liked it in its present state now that it's been patched a lot. Freeing Orc held towns is great fun. It's also huge (probably where they went wrong in being too ambitious). Still got a lot of bugs but I could get round them. Certainly gave me a lot of fun for a long time. Full Review »

My review is based on the Enhanced Edition from Steam.
I just finished playing Forsaken Gods and honestly I did not find that many bugs if
    any noteworthy ones.
I play games for the Gameplay and the story and I played Gothic 3, so to finally after many years, to buy the standalone expansion was a must. I cannot understand the low score people give this game, but I guess most of it is based on the original edition and not the Enhanced one. If you like me loved the game and the story of Gothic 3 and even the Gothic Saga, then do not cheat yourself out of this experience. Forsaken Gods is the final link between Gothic 3 and Gothic 4.
Just make sure you get the Enhanced Edition, then you should be flying. vanAndesen

Horrible Horrible Horrible ... Worst game IN THE SERIES. I don't call this game gothic 3 , hell not even Gothic , but i'll call this just FORSAKEN GODS. The problems with it : It is soooo buggy , the story and quests are so dull / lame / boring and feels EMPTY. The engine runs worser than Gothic 3 and i finally figured out why they didnt sell this at retail when i ordered for 5$ from Ebay ... Because this game SUCKS. Full Review »
