Hide and Shriek is a fun game, but can get repetitive after a while. The game needs more levels to hold the players attention longer, but playing against random people can actually make it a little more interesting, as each one tends to play a little different.
At such a low price and with such a capacity for emergent gameplay it is hard to not recommend Hide and Shriek. The fun is situational, though, and is best played with a friend, with comms, and with only a few matches at a time so as to not dilute its magic. Under these circumstances it's a riot.
Horrible game company that tends to suspend their players at random and refuses to give players a reason (Except: Sorry, its extremely busy we can't answer)). I highly recommend to not deal with this company.
Funcom games are also in general extremely buggy but every game does has its unique flavor. Its just that the company is too horrible that I can't recommend any of their games.
The only positive thing for this game is that its free. Collapse Collapse
A simple idea with which is easy to pick up. Set in The Secret World universe it is familiar to those who have played but doesn't alienate newcomers. Score points by casting spells, catching your enemy and scaring them using customisable shrieks (which are unlocked through game play as well as pick ups).
Playing with friends is more rewarding than playing public matches but either way it is still a fun way to pass the time.
For it's price it's worth picking up and trying out.
Despite being themed around a holiday, Hide and Shriek is surprisingly fun and offers some amusing layers. Jump scares and shock horror aside, it’s really the runes that make this game much more fun than it first appears. They add various depths of strategy to the game to make it sort of like a weird game of Halloween cat and mouse. That said, the shrieks most definitely do their job.
It’s adequate; it has compelling moments; it passes the time, until enough time passes and you’ve had your fill. To say that it’s repetitive would be akin to calling an online shooter or a sports game repetitive: whilst it absolutely is, it all comes down to whether or not the fun can sustain the repetition.
Mediocre and utter drivel. Funcom needs to start making proper games again like The Longest Journey.
Seems like the company is on hiatus, or perhaps stalling players?
No more lame MMOs and no more short/pathetic attempts at horror please.
