  • Summary: New features for this year include a brand-new graphics engine, all-new motion-captured player animations, and Franchise Mode containing comprehensive player contracts, financial and free agent systems and realistic player management features. They've even tripled the number of pitch types from detailed scouting reports and input from Curt Schilling, himself! [3DO] Expand

  1. Still the best baseball sim there is. [Apr 2003, p.65]
  2. 84
Basically unchanged with a few recognizable additions and accuracies to a sport that only the passionate truly enjoys, this title's illustrious career isn't quite over.
  3. The interface itself is just plain bizarre: A complete lack of mouse support makes manipulating your rosters and searching through stats more of a chore than it should be. [June 2003, p.72]
  4. 68
The gameplay is still loads of fun, and continues to deliver great and memorable moments. The sorry state of the franchise mode, however, is a real problem.
  5. While you should be enjoying yourself, considering who should be hitting cleanup versus lefties, among other things, you'll instead find yourself constantly thinking about how much easier everything would be with a drag-and-drop interface.
  6. A complete lack of mouse support is the painful tip of this iceberg. [June 2003, p.104]
  7. If you want to run a franchise and delve into all of the other options that the game offers, the horrid interface combined with the franchise mode shortcomings make it impossible to recommend. [June 2003, p.86]

Graphics are great. Most in depth franchise mode I've ever encountered (you can manage rosters from A, AA, AAA, and major league..) Only gripe is that pitching is very hard.. but the tuning menu allows you to set overall difficulty where you want. Collapse

The AI stinks unless you like 22-17 baseball games. Career and Franchise mode are not user friendly. Graphics are fine though.
