  1. The story is what really what makes Iron Storm rock!
  2. You might find Iron Storm too hard at times this will probably get you more addicted to its gloomy, hopeless and war-torn game world than anything else. Make no mistake about it; this is a tough shooter to beat.

A pretty basic shooter, but if you're looking for a little bit of mindless fun you'll find a game that, despite some problems, will satisfy your that itchy trigger finger you've been needing to unleash.
  4. The game's story manages to draw through its limitations, and the shoot-em-up gameplay is enjoyable for the segments when it's not so tough we're tearing our hair out.
  5. If there were a category for set design and creativity, this game would be one of the forerunners for most creative of the year.
  6. Iron Storm is fun and you'll be compelled to continue play, but there's nothing much to move it into standing glory above all others.
  7. Not for the easily frustrated, but unique enough to attract serious FPS fans. [Jan 2003, p.116]
  8. Though it sets up nicely with a strong storyline, it really just becomes another mission-based shooter game.
  9. What hurts this game more than anything else, is that it could have been so much better.
  10. Its story doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and it's sometimes frustratingly difficult, but Iron Storm is a reasonably successful action game, which is what counts.
  11. Iron Storm does look and feel dated because of the graphics, and because of the type of gamplay that is offered. While it does feel like a complete game, and while I did feel satisfied playing it, it left me felling like the storyline should have been done justice.
  12. The challenging AI and consistently grim atmosphere will draw many players into the missions, but less than clear objectives will deter others.
  13. An interesting premise, but dismal AI and frustrating trial and error gameplay ultimately weigh this title down.
  14. 54
Fail[s] to live up to its potential. What's left is simply a frustrating and tedious single-player game.
  15. Isn't as bad as getting trench foot or being castrated by shrapnel, but it's still so full of tedium and frustration that paying for the game is pretty much an act of self-flagellation. [Feb 2003, p.98]
  16. Iron Storm has its own versin of the "what if" game: what if WWI had never ended? Unfortunately, it may leave you wondering, "What if I was playing a game that was more fun?" [Feb 2003, p.80]

Despite a strong "what-if" story, the game itself feels like it was released 6 months too early. Wait until they fix the install-stopping, game-stopping, gameplay-stopping bugs before considering this as your next purchase. Full Review »

I've never tried the multiplayer so I can't say if its good or bad. The single player is very hard and the graphics are looking dated. However, it has an intriguing story and an atmosphere that is almost unique. In it's time the game gad something of a cult following, but today it's largely forgotten. Full Review »

It's one of those games that have great potential and a rather intriguing base for the storyline. Too bad the technical side didn't fulfilled the expectations. The graphics were somewhat below the standard even when the game hit the market, the sound as well - only thing to commend about the sound are the narrative elements of the enemy propaganda and the short chatter of the enemies. The story could have more turning points and excitements, but it's better than most I've seen so far. Too bad, this game would've been a real gem in my collection. I gave it 7 and it's mostly because of the world setting and the story. Other elements deserve no more than 4 or 5. Full Review »
