A very good Mad Max game, with some excellent bits but also some issues. The setting is great, car combat is incredibly fun - there's a good sense of freedom and the main missions are pretty good, but the story is quite flat (even though the ending is great), the fighting system is nothing more than decent and the optional stuff becomes pretty repetitive.

Mad Max successfully blends well-known and popular elements from other games. Post-apocalyptic world is very well presented and driving behind the Magnus Opus' wheel is so engrossing that the latest work from Avalanche is definitely worth your time, even if one needs to turn a blind eye to few shortcomings.

In the end, Mad Max’s ability to create a good time far outweighs any problems it has.

It captures the charm of the outstanding original, and should satisfy fans of the original. However, it is also monotonous, tough and a little unimaginative.

Is it a bad game? Absolutely not. On the contrary, Ubisoft's open-world template is perfect for churning out market-friendly games that tick all the boxes of "What People Want." Or, perhaps, "What You Want."...And honestly, Mad Max's formula is still to some extent "What I Want." Just not as much as a few years ago.

The formula wears off quickly but the fans of the movie will have their Mad Max fix.
  7. The type which does not present a novelty for open world Mad Max. Repetitive missions. Is it fun to collect scrap metal?

I bought MGS V and Mad Max last night, I figured I would try Mad Max for an hour before i would start Metal Gear. I still have not playedI bought MGS V and Mad Max last night, I figured I would try Mad Max for an hour before i would start Metal Gear. I still have not played metal gear a day later. This mad max game besides being beautufl graphically is so much fun, there is so much stuff to do in the game. My one little grip is that you cannot collect scrap metal by driving over it Expand

Developers nailed everything: visuals, atmosphere, sounds, gameplay. I had alot of fun riding on my car exploring wasteland, upgrading my gear, getting to know crazy inhabitants, beating the crap out of thugs. Even after dozens of hours I dont get tired of this. After played at 100%, two things:

    1. a small room in Underbelly with a bathtub full of blood of a barely visible body next to a mattress where lies a dead woman, next to a corpse which gives you the option of eating worms and in a corner a little girl hugging a skull.... what a **** Priceless scene of madness.
    2. and Mad Max in a quote:
Outcrier: But.. everyone see you falling!
Max: but they don't see me landing.

and pros: Stunning scenarios, a lot of options to customize cars, the details and the main story
Cons: fights with the bosses are almost the same, secondary missions and a poor participation of the leaders of the factions.

Conclusion: A very fun game with a few weaks.

As others have already mentioned, this is one of those grindy, repetitive open world games. The story is not that great and all the non-storyAs others have already mentioned, this is one of those grindy, repetitive open world games. The story is not that great and all the non-story tasks are basically just copy/pastes in a different location. Destroy x oil tanks, kill all enemies, collect x this, etc. The combat is a watered down version of the Batman games with not much variety even when you've unlocked all the skills. This is basically just a jack of all trades, master of none type of game. They just put together gameplay from GTA, Assassin's Creed, Batman, and Farcry, but it doesn't do anything necessarily extraordinary. I would say the only thing I commend them on is the car battles.

Don't even get me started on the poor optimization of the PC port. Seems like they only tested the game on a few different hardware configurations. I have a clean install of Windows 10, all drivers upated and latest BIOS firmware, but the game crashes randomly. I've installed 4 different versions of the Nvidia drivers and even lowered my settings to normal, but the crashes still occur. I know my video card (GTX570) can handle this on high settings because it runs smoothly on high up to the time it crashes. I can run MGS V on high with no problem. I think I've just come to the conclusion that WB Games doesn't have a good QA team for their PC ports. I mean look at the debacle with Arkham Knight. They had to take the game off the Steam store and push it back due to the technical problems.

(Update 9/29/15) - The latest patch has resolved the random crashing I was experiencing so I've bumped my score up from a 6 to a 7.

WARNING!WARNING! You know this strange rumbling in your stomache which tells you that something is a waste of time for absolutely sure???? MyWARNING!WARNING! You know this strange rumbling in your stomache which tells you that something is a waste of time for absolutely sure???? My stomache never rumbled that hard, as when i started Mad Max!!! Gosh this is a boring waste of time, i had to secure my stomache with probiotic joghurt to prevent self-consumation! gosh this is boring.dont get this game, even when they pay you for. to play this, you need to get 10 bucks per hour, its like McDonalds nightshift on the countryside. Also a very very bad mood gets you after half an hour, its like "STOP NOW! OR I SERIOUSLY KILL MYSELF!". Its like a cinematic horror coaster, in which every **** experience gets in your brain out of pure boringness. god, this game is ugly. Expand
