  1. The right choice for anyone who's out for an action-packed arcade racer with smooth gameplay and miscellaneous tasks and challenges to complete on the road. The accent in this game is on addictive, high-paced arcade-style driving.
  2. Combined with the incredible sense of speed offered by the game, Midnight Club 2 will leave you craving more, and you will likely be up until the early hours of the morning trying to beat those pesky French sisters in Paris.
  3. The high difficulty is a bit of a problem, the interface is a bit too console-like, and the multiplayer internet games could be set up a bit better, but it's still a fine game.
  4. The depth comes in the form of controlling the vehicles, navigating the city streets and discovering shortcuts.
  5. It's just not particularly inspired. It's also amazing how much licensed cars are missed. [Oct 2003, p.85]
  6. Rockstar Games has taken what it learned from the "Grand Theft Auto" series and used it to deliver a solid driving experience. [Oct 2003, p.122]
  7. If you already have a killer PC rig and that is your preferred gaming platform then it doesn't get any better than this, but considering the steep system requirements and the fact that you still need to play this game with a console-style gamepad, why not just enjoy this title on the Xbox or PS2 the way it was designed.
  8. There isn't a better racing game to be had on the PC. If you're the fast and furious type, then curb your need for speed with Midnight Club II!
  9. Graphically the game looks good, but thanks to its console roots does not match the best looking games available.
  10. Midnight Club II's rubber-band AI, annoying voice work, and poorly designed front end all hold the game back.

The best arcade racer to hit the PC in years.
  12. It is quite difficult though, so if you like your racing easy, you'd best look elsewhere - or better yet, find a cheat code.
  13. The best racing game I’ve played in months, and anyone looking to release a title in this genre now should look long and hard at what Rockstar’s been able to pull off here.

With loads of courses and plenty of smart opponents and lots of fast cars, you simply couldn't ask for more -- unless you're a shameless ingrate.
  15. A well-designed and entertaining street racer - "Midtown Madness" on steroids. [Oct 2003, p.102]

To all who are here to hate about the controls, driving physics, lack of customisation etc. This isn't meant to be deep. Where it shines is in the exceptionally well-designed cities of LA, Paris and Tokyo which have a great variety of routes, fun, fast and exciting. The characters you come across are pretty varied. The game does get harder as you play thorugh. I never managed to complete the last race. Lots of races, fitting soundtrack and superb progression throughout. Only Rockstar could've made such a creative and variety-rich game. Full Review »

The cars have varying handling physics, the opponents talk trash to keep things interesting, the courses are all wildly different, and the drift physics are the best in any driving game I've played. This is not a simulator, which is fine with me, it is a fun fun racing game. Full Review »
