Jan 11, 201368The interplay between Horatio and Crispin as they push deeper into this pixelated robotic realm to recover their stolen goods is a high point in an adventure that feels like a bit of a slog despite its relatively short length.
-
Dec 5, 201250Primordia isn't a bad adventure, just not one with the spark of other recent attempts - not least Wadjet Eye's own library. The basic ideas are solid, and it's worth checking out at least the demo for the humor that the Horatio/Crispin dialogue brings.
-
Jan 7, 201370Primordia is delightful, smart and packed with personality, but it also comes to a close just as you're ready to explore more of its engrossing world.
-
Feb 9, 201373A throwback to the genre's glory days, obtuse puzzle concoctions, awkward controls and all. [March 2013, p.78]
-
Dec 17, 201283Polished aesthetics, good writing and a beautiful, decadent world presented with a mix of light humor and pessimism, raise Primordia from the multitude of adventures out there.
-
Feb 6, 201355Primordia starts abruptly and ends just as suddenly, and the good story that we’re teased with doesn’t quite ever get told.
-
Dec 4, 201270Primordia will enchant its guests, leaving a deep impression that will have you wanting more. And no matter what your craft may be, it unquestionably has a way of getting those creative juices flowing.
-
Dec 11, 201270Primordia is proof that Wadjet Eye doesn't develop amazing games. This point-and-click adventure tells a good story in an interesting world, but is troubled by some annoyances and a lack of innovation.
-
Jan 7, 201375Wornwood Studios has developed a great adventure game in retro style, based on the history of Horatio Nullbuilt v5 and his robotic creature, Crispin, living in a planet inhabited only by robots. The game offers a new interesting plot about the science fiction universe in a post-human scenario trying to explain the truth about the last Era and the Creator.
-
Jan 3, 201380A sci-fi adventure? Yes, and even more! A nice story, a true adventure game gameplay and a little voyage into old game melancholy. A game that every point and click lover shouldn't miss.
-
Jan 24, 201380Every weakness is compensated by a strength, and while I would prefer to have the latter without the former, I can't complain too much about the overall effect. I found Primordia charming and intriguing, and its mysteries well worth solving.
-
Jan 7, 201370There's a dark and meaningful story within Primordia and despite the rush at the end, it's a story worth hearing.
-
Dec 5, 201270Primordia is an interesting adventure for fans of science fiction, but it is a pity that coming from an original idea as good as religion and moral conflicts of robots, the game turns into something as traditional as the search for a power core. Good game, but not at the level of Rue Gemini or Resonance.
-
Feb 4, 201370It is not the longest game you have played, it's bit predictable but nevertheless it will entertain you. As a cure for unreasoning optimism Primordia works perfectly. [Jan 2013]
-
Dec 6, 201285Only a few clunky systems, a couple of irritating puzzles, and a brief playing time let the game down, and none should put you off buying. Between this and Machinarium it seems post-apocalyptic adventures in robot civilisations are a safe bet for excellent puzzling.
-
Dec 5, 201260This post-apocalyptic science fiction adventure uses its own humor too much, but delivers an interesting story and good universe. There are some flaws, but we appreciate that there are different solutions to the same puzzle. Primordia is an interesting game that could have been a little more refined.
-
Dec 5, 201280Although having a sidekick like Crispin corrodes Primordia's otherwise beautiful presentation, there are nevertheless fun puzzles, memorable conversations, and new thoughts to be had.
-
Dec 14, 201278If you like your adventure loaded with puzzles, this might not be your cup of tea. But if you like unusual characters and stories, you should join Horatio and Crispin on their pixelated retro-journey.
-
Dec 14, 201280Primordia follows the path set by recent indie adventures and combines a well written story with an old-school presentation. Ridiculous pixel hunting occasionally obscures the better parts of the gameplay but interesting events and characters keep the game coming out on top of any technical problems.
-
Feb 6, 201380It doesn't reinvent the genre, but Primordia's rich script, interesting world and solid puzzles make up for its minor annoyances. [Feb 2013, p.72]
-
Dec 21, 201270Primordia is ticking almost every box. It has an amazing setting with a deep back-story and lore, and some wonderful gameplay ideas. It is a pity though the main storyline and the puzzles struggle so much to keep up and don't quite manage to live up to enticing prospect.
-
Jan 6, 201380Primordia's intentionally outdated looks prove that the story (including atmosphere and puzzles) is still the most important element of a point'n'click adventure game. [1/2013, p.48]
-
Dec 10, 201280Falling just a little short of instant classic status, Primordia is still a gorgeous, clever, and melancholy science-fiction parable.
-
Dec 28, 201270An excellent, but not independent, adventure game extraordinaire. Draws gamers to its high-quality dialogues, replayability and perfect sound design. However, its predictable story along with its user-unfriendliness, that is ignored just by contemporary retro fans, are dragging the game down.
-
Dec 17, 201275Primordia is a nice little s-f game. It's ugly, classic and short, but at the same time intriguing, well thought-out and quite literary. A game that tries to tell something about important things, but does so without being pompous. It's a modest game that has a huge spirit. An adventure game without impressive graphics has to rely on content, smart script, atmosphere and style. Primordia does well in almost all of these things, but definitely is not a breakthrough game.
-
Feb 4, 201379Mark Yohalem has penned a truly impactful story, more profound than first impressions would suggest. Its strength lies with the characters, the deep symbolism and various philosophical questions raised. [February 2013]
-
Jan 27, 201366A robot hermit who speaks in rhymes, a robot preacher who guards a bomb, a robot passenger who is doomed to wait for a bus that will never come… The wasteland world of Primordia is filled with memorable characters, but the game is totally devoid of emotions, exciting plot twists and entertaining puzzles – as if it was, too, made by robots.
