Playing the game is a blast and it sure looks great... On a deeper level, where most strategy gamers like to think they exist, the game suffers from oversimplification of both command and control features.
  2. A great game for those of us either, cursed with dial up connections, or the inability to constantly pay for games that feature persistent worlds.
  3. It's visually stunning with a decently thought-out control system, and reasonably balanced mission scenarios. It only falls down where it tries to be too clever with its simple approach, taking away control where players might prefer to keep it.
  4. Remains saddled with enough broken parts to guarantee this title a quick trip to the slag heap in the sky. [Sept 2002, p.78]

This is a streamlined Homeworld, with better graphics and a very nice interface. The detail is quite amazing actually and given that with a PC that is less than 2 years old you can play at the highest detail levels, it's actually quite beautiful in places. You cannot set formations for fighters like in Homeworld, but the AI is pretty decent, in fact pretty good given the state of PC gaming AI (versus graphics, sound, marketing, etc.). Full Review »
