  • Summary: Imagine having a Kung Fu Fight with string puppets, except you don't have to worry about getting the strings tangled up, and you don't have to have a kung fu fight. You control the characters on screen with the mouse – there are no pre-scripted animations in the game – it's all up to you – to walk, you have to literally pick up one foot, then place it in front of the other. Sounds tricky maybe, but it doesn't take long before you're spinning through the air like a Russian gymnast. This means you get to create your own style, and can act out whatever you feel like, and of course, if you really feel like it, you can have a fight. It's about Chi power. [Mark Healey] Collapse

  1. Even though this game is an indie effort, the art and sound production are professional-quality. [Jan 2006, p.57]
  2. The multiplayer mode adds some long-term appeal, but while it lasts Rag Doll Kung Fu is an enjoyable and unbelievably funny game, featuring hilarious low-budget FMV starring developer Mark Healey. [PC Zone]
  3. As a short game, there's little to moan about. It's basically all silly arm positions, freakish leg moves and improbable jumps. In a good way. And as Valve is publishing it, it can even be delivered to your PC painlessly. [PC Gamer UK]
  4. Hell, it's fun. But for a really short time.
  5. Pretty funky and fun - but only for a short while. [Christmas 2005, p.96]
  6. The camera pans and zooms as it pleases, so keeping tabs on yourself is tough enough, let alone pretzel-bending into a stamina-boosting lotus stance while ducking baddies. [Jan 2006, p.103]
  7. Rag Doll Kung Fu is fun. It's a laugh. And isn't that what gaming is all about? Sure, it is a bit of a five-minute wonder, but there are worse ways to spend your gaming time.

Unparalleled style, fantastic artwork, and a blast to play at LANs. I was excited about RDKF since the first trailer came out and have not been disappointed! Expand

It's fun and a real new experience. Lack of updates and laggy online-play pushes my vote.

This game has good physics but it impossible to move around or do what you want. The limbs are soo small that every time I tried punching or stepping I would just be flung around the screen. The special items that drop are usually just food and there aren't many cool items. Nobody is online to play with and you have to play the campaign to unlock anything but deathmatch but because the controls suck most of the quest objectives are impossible and I just gave up after 10 min. Don't but this game, nothing like SSB. Expand
