  • Summary: SimCity Societies Destinations is the first city pack in the SimCity Societies line-up of games. The city pack add-on moves the SimCity Societies experience into exciting, new – and sometimes exotic—locales, allowing players to create the perfect vacation spot. To attract and host Sims travelers from around the world, players must build and manage their destinations with an eye towards lucrative detail. SimCity Societies Destinations enhances the SimCity Societies experience by providing all the tools you need to create an entire city or town based on attractions and amenities that visitors enjoy. With an enhanced map generator, players can identify each city’s opportunity for diversion and the city can capitalize on that draw. From sprawling theme parks and tropical beach resorts to country hiking trails, players can control more than 100 new buildings to create their customized destination. [Electronic Arts] Expand

  1. This is a decent expansion, but it is not a must-have one.
  2. This expansion to last year's underwhelming city builder is surprisingly good and makes a number of important improvements.
  3. 67
Perhaps the best thing that we can say about Destinations is that it finally starts to make SimCity Societies feel worthy of the SimCity name.
  4. 58
Many new buildings (and new gameplay modes) are already available in free patches, so if you're not interested in Destinations' vacationing layer (which, to be fair, adds another honest-to-goodness challenge to the game), you don't really need to drop another 30 bucks -- unless you really, really missed that monster-attack disaster.
  5. A weak add-on to an improving game. [Sept 2008, p.92]
  6. SimCity Societies with its expansion Destinations doesn't offer you enough new stuff to keep you going. This title seems to be aimed at people who love the Sims series, because it uses elements from that game as well. Be warned, this game is very repetitive. The essence of the series seems to be lost.
