These battles will take place on the iconic planets of the Star Wars universe, including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and the previously unexplored planet, Sullust. Gamers can play as the memorable characters from the original trilogy such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Star Wars Battlefront features a wide range of modes tailored for different types of battles, from larger 40-person competitive multiplayer to crafted missions that are played solo, with a partner via split-screen offline or co-operatively online. Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Aside from awkward performances and a poor original score, Battlefront is a master class in aesthetic authenticity. Beyond a few essential modes built for casual competition, however, Battlefront is unfocused, relying on excess game types to compensate for an absent single-player campaign.

When it comes to generating pure Star Wars atmosphere this is a dream come true. But even that can’t hide the fact that in the end the content is fun but at this stage very limited.

It looks great, but it is in need of more substance behind the style.

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]

Star Wars: Battlefront is beautiful to look at, but too primitive at its core.

Star Wars: Battlefront does a fantastic job of transporting players into the Star Wars universe for a big initial kicker, but that ultimately fades when you realize how light it is on content and game features. A textbook case of style over substance.

Ok , so everybody is hating for lack of content and a very repetitive game play. Lets look the pros and cons of the game
    PROS:
    Amazing graphics.
    Excellent servers.
Easy to learn, hard to master gameplay.
All the maps are filled with stuff Also they are very detailed and true to the original movies.
The feeling when you get while playing this game is almost as if you were in the game-movie-Star Wars
The 3rd person is how its meant to be played AND ITS AWESOME.
    The soundtrack
    The vehicles
    The sounds
True to the previous Battlefront games.

    CONS:
The one liner voice overs are terrible.

No its not repetitive. No its not a generic FPS. Its not meant to be played as an FPS. Its just an extra feature. The game is easy to learn, but its not by any mean "soulless" and "casual". For the usual metacritic scum who are here just to destroy this game ratings, i have no comment. For the rest Star Wars- Sci Fi fans I say only this : Buy it. It worth's it.

Main game first then DLC after. I expected a Star Wars themed BF4. I love BF4! DICE has gone above and beyond to support that game which came out in Oct 2013. They just released a free DLC for a 2 year old game. I expect the same for this game.
The graphics are great. I play on high settings with a gtx 570 which is below the minimum graphics. I cant imagine what it looks like on ultra settings, but soon I will when I get a R9 390X. The sounds in this game are fantastic. That being said, I wish there were more maps and weapons on original release. I only paid $35 for this game on CJS keys. I buy all my PC games from there and other similar sites. If I paid $60 for a game I didn't like I would be upset like most people, but if you bought it from EA then they will refund you which is fantastic.
I am 35 and a casual PC and XBOX One gamer so I can only play about 7-8 hours a week. I just want to play a fun game that looks and sounds great with no bugs. This game gets most of that right.

as everyone has said graphics and sound are great and runs pretty smooth
as for the multiplayer, levels are very unbalanced for the walker assault, dont even try winning on endor if you're playing as the empire
the guns are somewhat poorly done, there's a gun that you'll unlock at level 3 but at level 5 you can get a gun that is a direct upgrade to it which is pretty pointless, i think there's a few more there as well
if you're ever caught wondering what gun the guy at the top of the leader board is using it's han solo's blaster with it's 2 shot kill
there's also the lack of content (4 maps and a bunch of gamemodes 2 of which people will only play, walker assault and deathmatch were the only ones i could get a game for)for it's hefty $90 AUD pricetag for the standard edition and the $60 season pass if you want the future content, likely 1 new map per dlc
for those who want to return this game you can in the first 30 days if you bought through origin
    Pros:
    graphics
    sound
    Netcode

    Cons:
    lack of solo/co-op
    price
    unbalanced maps
    unbalanced weapons
Disappointing customization (omg wow i can change to an old guy or an alien golly gee)

Hopefully dice/ea will take a look at the reveiws and sort it out, hell i'd re-buy it if they let me vs ai only on all the multiplayer game modes

    Cons:
    - Card system sucks.
    - multiplayer sucks (no server browser, get crap ping / connection most of the time, servers are empty, no team-balancing)
    - poor map designs
    - no level destruction
    - lame weapons
    - vehicules suck (get your X-Wing shot down by a blaster, or by camping tie-fighter waiting for x-wing spawn to shoot you down the second the vehicule intro finishes)
    - Heros suck, they are way overpowered and dying to one is a given
    - Players customisation is a joke

I could go on, but it's been already said 100x.

Everything that makes a game fun.
    Progression System
    Story Line
    Balance in Multiplayer

    Few Weapons/Gear
Grenade Spam - which every competing multiplayer tries to no reward with but Dice/EA rewards.
    No tactical play
    Hero battles are fun once
Walker Assault is fun for an hour

When will game companies learn what made them popular was the old basic idea that the game has to be fun before you impress with technology and fancy graphics. Gameplay over graphics seems to be a bad word to these companies anymore. They could save tons of money and make bigger profits focusing on the gameplay over the advertising campaign but I guess we are in an age where the board of directors of these companies thinks the advertisement are more important to sucker in as many gamers as possible but target a "new" audience who is ok with accepting less substance while paying more.

It looks amazing, sound is amazing....and that's it.
If you're looking for a game, this isn't it. Gets boring after a few min. I bought this on sale and I still can't see the value in paying $10 for this game apart from the Star Wars royalties.
