Star Wars: Battlefront II Image
  • Summary: Star Wars Battlefront II improves upon the original game's single-player experience with open-ended, mission-based objectives inspired from all six Star Wars films. The compelling storyline spans more than 12 new locations, many from Episode III, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Star Wars Battlefront II experience, as players battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leia’s blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, players can feel the Force as a Jedi. For the first time ever, Star Wars Battlefront II players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the spacecraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemy’s capital ship, overtake the ship’s command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs. The stellar online play that marked the original Star Wars Battlefront returns even bigger and better for Star Wars Battlefront II. Players can locate their buddies and track their stats as they battle alongside more players than ever (up to 24 on PS2, 32 on Xbox, 64 on Windows). [LucasArts] Expand

  1. The improved single-player games are worthwhile enough on their own, but if you can find well connected online matches, multiplayer games will keep you addicted for months.
  2. A huge improvement over the first game. There is enough content to keep even the most die-hard fan playing for a long time. Take it online, and the replay value is seemingly endless.
  3. If you are really-truly hardcore about the Star Wars universe and you scoff at the "silly nuts and bolts weapons" and thing halogen lights are strangely appealing, with a patch here and there, Battlefront 2 just *might* be the experience you are looking for.

This game is great! If you're a fan of 3rd-person shooters, then you'll really enjoy this game! It's way better than it's predecessor in many ways than one. The only downfall is that it doesn't have air crafts in this one like it did in the first, but I'm sure they had their reasons. The space battles were a good implement as well though! Expand

Finally got this the other day and what can I say? Just Battlefront with space battles tbh. I cannot believe that this game demanded such a high spec PC to run on its initial release as graphically its very poor, even with everything maxed out, and several of the maps are from battlefront. All of the vehicles look like they have been added after the shaders and lighting so look incredibly out of place. Have not tried online because u need gamespy and I won't use gamespy - no inbuilt server browser sucks. If you are (like me) a massive star wars fan then buy it, because from that aspect you will have fun, and it does have some great rebel scum blasting moments, but only buy it if ou find it cheap. Cmon lucasarts - do the right thing - give Battlefront 3 to dice to develop and give us the starwars game we have all been waiting for. Expand

  3. Be prepared to have to turn your sound COMPLETELY OFF. Good graphics. Fun open battlefield feel. AI is good at times, but also randomly idiotic at others. You are the only one who can acquire the checkpoints in battle, even if you are simply just another grunt. Forced to unlock certain units each fight, meaning anything you previously accomplished is erased with each battle, though they can be switched mid-fight, and are not too demanding to acquire. It especially gets a low rating for the sound issue (which is a well known bug with no resolution even now). Also GAME BREAKING BUG. On later missions: Even if you've completed all the objectives, have a huge troop advantage, and have not/hardly died, if you die near the end of the mission (such as Naboo) results in auto defeat. That means if you've managed to survive the whole fight, and helped your side dominate, you will magically lose if randomly killed as you are about to totally rout the enemy. There is also an AI countermeasure that will not allow you to complete a level too fast. If you acquire the checkpoints too fast you will be overrun by large swarms of opponents that come in unending waves. Talk about a big fail in the campaign AI. The Star Wars universe should be 3 things. Epic mythos, great special effects, and dynamic sound. W/O sound it loses alot of cache. From a company that has made 3 terrible movies after 3 great ones, and refuses to bring back X-Wing/Tie Fighter for the new century, you have to know what to expect. Do NOT pay more then $5 for this game, and debate if you even want to spend that much. Expand
