The compelling storyline spans more than 12 new locations, many from Episode III, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Star Wars Battlefront II experience, as players battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leia’s blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, players can feel the Force as a Jedi. For the first time ever, Star Wars Battlefront II players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the spacecraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemy’s capital ship, overtake the ship’s command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs. The stellar online play that marked the original Star Wars Battlefront returns even bigger and better for Star Wars Battlefront II. Players can locate their buddies and track their stats as they battle alongside more players than ever (up to 24 on PS2, 32 on Xbox, 64 on Windows). [LucasArts] Expand

  1. The improved single-player games are worthwhile enough on their own, but if you can find well connected online matches, multiplayer games will keep you addicted for months.
  2. Space battle is the newest addition to the Battlefront series. I stand and applaud LucasArts and Pandemic for pulling off the single greatest space flight simulation game ever.

The sequel to last year's third-person/real-time strategy game set in Star Wars land once again manages to be the 'Nam of Wars games. In other words, the disc does a heck of job of trying to make you feel like you're really "in the sh.t" on Coruscant.
  4. The online play is fantastic and makes up for the mediocre enemy AI found in the single-player missions.

A hardcore Star Wars fan's dream come true. Decent solo game with playable jedi characters, furious space fights and awesome net play. What else can you ask for? As a PC game Battlefront 2 is a technically lacking hyperactive bunnyhopper. Again. [Dec 2005]
  6. New space combat maps and playable Jedi represent some incremental improvements, but for the most part, Battlefront II treads familiar ground, which is great for Star Wars fanatics and fans of team-based online shooters.

Though only the second installment, this feels more like the "Return of the Jedi" of the Battlefront franchise than "The Empire Strikes Back." [Feb 2006, p.52]

I think the reason people keep crapping on this game's score is because they're reviewing it based on today's game standards. Will the AI,I think the reason people keep crapping on this game's score is because they're reviewing it based on today's game standards. Will the AI, graphics, sound, and content hold up to multi-million dollar games like Battlefield and Call of Duty? Of course not! This game was made a decade ago. We should be happy the AI isn't staring at the ground and shooting walls, because we still have those problems today. For a game made back in the day of PS2, this title deserves at least an 8/10. There have been very few games like this; where you're offered a small roll in a much bigger ongoing battle with BOTS. Online set aside, there are practically no games where you play a soldier; just a soldier. It's always "secret special operative of the covert missions squadron number 5 based in deep undercover reconnaissance in china" because that is what every modern day FPS is about. This game? You're a soldier-scratch that- an omnipotent controller of expendable soldiers. This game was one of the first to offer different classes that had at least semi-different attributes like health and damage output differences. This game was an inspiration to games like COD and Battlefield, so when you come in to play, don't bring your modern expectations. Think, "10 years ago, what did I expect from a game- and a MOVIE LICENSED GAME at that." You'll be much, much more pleased. And, if you're like me and bought this game for the nostalgia, it's even more beautiful than before with all the new mods and unofficial patches that are out. You'll fall in love with this game all over again; It should curb your appetite until Battlefront 3 comes out next year. Expand

The only other thing I could ask for would being able to make a custom Space assualt should have more capital ships, otherwise, great game.
