  • Summary: Starlancer combines the action of first-person space combat with the drama and intrigue of a classic air combat movie. Countries from around the world including the United States, China, Russia and Great Britain have formed strategic alliances and now battle for control of Earth, Mars and other planets across the solar system. As part of a newly formed, ragtag aviation unit, the 45th Volunteers Squadron, players must prove themselves and earn the respect of their peers. [Microsoft] Expand

It offers amazing visuals, intense gameplay and a compelling story. Most games only make it with one or two of these advantages but with StarLancer you get all three.
  2. Starlancer also features some of the most believable voice acting. However, I really hated Hawkee in the later missions, she was just plain irritating.
  3. It's a near-perfect traditional space combat game. I'm one of the most discriminating space combat fans out there, and StarLancer was just a joy to review.
  4. An enjoyable story-driven space combat sim that should meet, but not exceed, the lofty expectations of fans of the developers' previous games.
  5. Lots of flash, low substance. Try "Freespace" or "Tachyon" for a more fulfilling experience. [July 2000, p.84]
  6. Loses ground with an inferior scaling system and limited use of large scale structures and ships, which negatively impact its graphics and gameplay scores.
  7. Somewhat less than the sum of its parts, StarLancer just doesn’t provide anything we haven’t seen before.

One of the best space sims ever made. It had a gritty earth based storyline, fantastic music, effects, and game play. One of the first games to include simultaneous multiplayer and it opened up additional missions when playing with friends. A+ effort on this one. Expand
