  • Summary: Starpoint Gemini 2, like its predecessor Starpoint Gemini (2011), is an open-world 3D space simulation that combines powerful RPG mechanics with the frenzy of space combat, creating a particular blend that sets itself apart from all other games in the genre.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is a beast of a game. It gracefully balances exploration, action, narrative, and RPG elements to create a complete package that thrills and excites… most of the time. Be aware that the nature of the missions are repetititive and ultimately a means to an end: to become the most powerful captain in the galaxy.

The presentation is not great and the first few hours are pretty hard, but if you can get through you will find a very good game.

An enjoyable single player space romp with a steep learning curve. Ignore the campaign and persevere with the sandbox for a rewarding experience.

Tactical combat, RPG-gameplay and a huge universe to explore are key elements of LGMs space-game. Graphics, music and sound effects are good, but the voice-acting is awful. Side-missions are repetitive and the campaign is suffering on a weak story. Bugs and balancing-problems still have to be patched. The Freeroam mode is the best part of the game and the mod-community offers nice content.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is a standard space sim, with some cool features.

Most of the options available to you in Starpoint Gemini 2 will relate back in some way to the market and the economy. If there is an escape from its all-encompassing dullness, it can be found in restlessly wandering.

It is a vast universe with endless possibilities - nothing more, nothing less. If you prefer solo play and you have a vivid imagination give the game a chance. Otherwise leave it be. [Issue#247]

I have been playing Starpoint Gemini II since the early Beta was released. I thoroughly enjoy this game. It has beautiful graphics, and in the spirit of Elite it brings together combat, factions, and trading in a wonderfully playable world.
The development team is second to none. They are very responsive to problems that arise and work hand and hand with players to give you an optimal experience.
I highly recommend this game to any spacer. It allows you a lot of choices for personal customization of not only the ships, but the type of game you want to play. Choose your story line or go rogue; "be good, bad, or you"; and anything in between.

    Phenomenal game!

After 20y of my gaming life, last year i decided to give the Indie games a chance and it has become a great year.

Out of pure luck, one day i decided to take it on a Daily deal on Steam, and that was like hitting a winning lottery ticket. The feel of a massive universe where u can be what u want, from a economy based mega mogul Trader, to a ransacking Pirate in a search for a better loot. Starpoint Gemini 2 gives u the real feel of space adventure that was last seen in old classic games like Freespace.

Buy your ship, upgrade its capabilities, choose from a variety of sizes: from small and fast gunner for fast kill, big slow freightleiner for hauling your precious cargo to a nearby station, or just maneuver a mega military carrier in a massive battles. Its up to you, to take your pick from more then 70 of ships that will blow your mind and make u wanna play more to get "that one there" you have seen in on of your many random generated missions.

Open space universe is a delight to see and feel. No loading screens, big transport network hub ranging from ships T-Drive capabilities to riftways and wormholes, a cluster of asteroid fields and and beautiful crafted nebulas. It all gives you a immersiveness of a real breathing galaxy, in which your adventures will make a big impact on a world.

All i can say its a great game, especially when i know its made by a really small dev team of real enthusiasts and space game fans.

Enjoy it, because: The outcome of the universe is in your hands...

Its for Win 7 and up, but I hear the devs are successfully been able to get it working on Windows Vista despite it has been labeled for Win 7 and later. That's one of the things what I like about this game, the dev team are in constant contact with game's community (over on game's steam forums).
You can describe this game like a successor to Freelancer, or like Eve offline, or a bit of everything. I think thats whats best, it has all the little elements I loved from other space sims/RPGs...

If you enjoyed games like Freelancer or the X series, you will enjoy this without a doubt. It looks amazing, plays smoothly, has a big universe to explore and conquer, has staggering ship customization and upgrades, great trading, easy interface and decent tutorial so you feel comfortable playing it within 10 minutes. It's also surprisingly bug free, for a game that's still in beta, it doesn't crash, nothing. It misses a campaign (I think it will be added in a couple of weeks just in time for release), but even just the free roam mode is great fun. I also loved the idea of having different classes that you can choose with different abilities, some make your ship stronger while others buff your (future) fleet, along with a ton of perks that you can customize as you level up. Gives it a lot of replayability as you try different styles and approaches. Even the music's great. I honestly can't find anything to complain about, and that's pretty rare for me. Expand
