The theme of this game is truly "Practice makes Perfect" and is an outstanding acrobatic speed-freak thriller.
Absolutely by design, this game was intended people who appreciate the process of learning and growing, tuning those skill that is required to master the subtleties that may be oblivious to the less perceptive mind.
Reviewing in response to poor reviews that were stemmed solely out of personal frustration due to lack of time, practice, or a fix for an "easy win" which is precisely NOT what was intended by developers and therefore is not a valid type of review.
Anyone can play and progress from the beginning and progress to reach higher levels, this game should not be binged. It should be played over time especially if one is prone to becoming frustrated when they fail.
To become great and beat the single or double "Skull" challenges, one must practice and engage perception in tandem with reflex and ability.
Disclaimer: I was a QA tester for SCB and am friends with the developers. Also, I loved the original to death and all of this colors my opinion.
Super Cloudbuilt is wonderful, it is everything Cloudbuilt wanted to be polished to perfection. I put over 900 hours into the original Cloudbuilt, and while the core mechanics were phenomenal and I obviously love it it did have some obvious flaws. The story was a notable weak point and the whole game lacked a sense of polish, on top of that several of the game modes were prone to crashing and a couple of bugs with the movement simplified the game to much at the highest level. I'm happy to say that all of that has been addressed in Super Cloudbuilt
The core of what made Cloudbuilt great is still here, that freedom of choice and the feeling of exploration is made all the more viceral by the redesigned levels and expansive design incorperated into every piece of the game. The movement is more refined, allowing new players to pick up the game more quickly and feel greater control over their motions. Demi feels as if she has actual weight and momentum now and the strange way Demi liked to get stuck on things in the original is gone.
The story and level select have been overhauled from the ground up. The hospital hub world is compact yet full of detail and the fact that Demi's monologues can be listened to inside loading screens or as you begin a new level keeps them from breaking the flow as they did in the original. The voice acting is also much improved, as well as the writing.
Finally, the polish. Everything about Super Cloudbuilt screams polish. The menus are sleek and modern, the inventory system is simple and effective, and everything is where you would expect it to be. All of this combined with a new global leaderboard system and the many gamemodes Cloudbulit has always had gives hours of content for those people who want to go fast while still providing rewards for those who want to play more casually.
For me Super Cloudbuilt is a 10/10, everything about this game is an improvement upon the original and it has earned it's spot as one of my favorite games of all time.
Super Cloudbuilt is a stunningly well realised game. It’s fun and frantic, yet the player is always in control. How much you enjoy this game will really depend on how much of a glutton for punishment you are. Cloudbuilt is frustratingly hard, but those with the patience and skill to persevere will find a rich and rewarding title with a great deal of replayability, returning to each level to find the optimal routes and looking like a boss whilst doing so.
Super Cloudbuilt is an impressive entry in the platforming genre. The level of challenge on offer is sure to please those looking for a chance to prove themselves.
Super Cloudbuilt is a pleasant surprise that manages to impress on a number of fronts. Its parkour action is intense, enjoyable, and encourages creative play. The story is deep, surprising, and one that could have a major impact on those who can relate to Demi's plight. And finally the base art style is beautiful, which is only further bettered by the surprising amount of options you have in this area. Super Cloudbuilt is an incredibly fun game, and during these quieter summer months it’s not one to miss out on.
When Super Cloudbuilt clicks, it's platforming at its best. That only comes once you've spent a decent amount of time learning its ways however, because the learning curve towards that nirvana is riddled with plodding, awkward discovery. In the meantime, the dreamlike locales and intriguing story serve as motivation to push through.
I think Demi looks like a cool character and I like the idea of using a rocketpack to dash through platforms in a kinetic flow state, but Super Cloudbuilt is too frustrating and haphazard as an experience. I’m sure the people who made it (and a handful of YouTubers) are really, really good at it, but thanks to a lack of polish and elements that never fit together well, I couldn’t understand what it was trying to be. I’m not sure Coilworks knows either.
There is no easy, medium, hard mode, and one event may make you not play it;
Yes there is a difference between wanting to play and quitting, this game will work that out for you.
Basis of above it is a deep down a fun game, although I don't agree with times and such been set like this in-game. At least without shown you skills or shortcuts to progress in that level similar fashion to Jet Set Radio sort of terms to play, tell us how to be good if no difficultly select.
Graphics are pretty with a immersive feel to it, combined with the sound bringing a massive draw to the game.
I think the game is good for the flying around with the parkour stuff, but my ideas to on screen I feel it could've been a lot more then what it is, however for a Indie title this is damn good just try not to take it too seriously when playing cause it does have a 'wrong' in my eyes to ethnics of been good at a game.
And no, I cannot S-rank for **** lol I'd give it 8 for graphics etc as really it is pretty close to a very good title, just that error could make you think it is a bad game when on the scale it ticks a lot of boxes.
Super Cloudbuilt
Super Frustrating
Super cloudbuilt is a parquor platforming game where you play as a young soldier named Demi who disconnected from her old life and physical body..
This game consists of a 5 hour long story mode, as well as challenge modes ranked and rush...
And I am completely awful at this game…
I found Super Cloudbuilt to be super frustrating thanks to its design choices and floaty feeling controls..
Here you’re able to jump, shoot, and dash... thankfully there is an option to customize controls because the default control scheme is just as bad as I am at this game…
at first I was having a lot of fun with super cloudbuilt..
You wall run and climb while you avoid mines, lasers and the occasional enemy... all while trying to find your way to the games end... collecting items along your way to unlock lockers at the end of each level for extra lives, find placeable checkpoints that you can use when you feel you just passed a challenging point you don’t want to go through again…
all of this was fun at first… but it never felt fluent or responsive..
I felt like I had no real control compared to games like titanfall 2 or mirrors edge catalyst that kind of does a similar thing as super cloudbuilt…
I felt like the boost ran out too fast... She didn’t get enough distance in her wall running... it just started to feel frustrating to me rather than fast and fluent…
and this wasn’t helped by the fact you have to also control the camera so you’re not sure where the ledge is you need to jump to next…
and onto [p of this there’s no real progression indicator from the game..
You’re just thrown into a level with a bunch of floating platforms and the rest is up to you...
and this caused the game for me to feel like it lacked polish…
and the games idea of challenge is to take even more control away from you as it ads sections and walls that don’t let you boost..
Instead of letting you have your tools and challenging you with obstacles or crazy jumps instead…
but even then the games floaty feel wouldn’t cause that to work either...
I could just not like this game because I am bad at it…
I didn’t have the urge to try again once I lost all of my levels in a level and had to restart from the bottom..
I just got annoyed and blamed the game for not knowing what to do at the spots I died in
Super Cloud built is a challenging game, so I can still see the good here for players into this sort of thing…
but the games feel for me was off, and not one I can recommend
I give Super Cloudbuilt
a 5.5/10
SummaryTake on the role of Demi, a young soldier who wakes up in the empty shell of a ruined building, in the center of a strange new world, disconnected from her old life and physical body. With each new challenge she overcomes Demi slowly pieces together the future now laid out before her.
