  1. PC Format
The equivalent of a lusty, full throttled fling - it's good fun for a little while, but it's hardly a solid base for a lengthy love affair. [Mar 2008, p.98]
  2. The Club is a fresh take on the shooter. It has a core concept that is truly engaging; it just feels as if it needs to be fleshed out a bit more. The single player Tournament mode is an absolute blast that will keep you occupied for a few hours. Unfortunately, the multiplayer features, though varied, are poorly executed.
  3. Edge Magazine
Underneath the mundane masculinity and grimy gun-toting clichés lies a heavily structured and well-considered score-attack game – one that’s worth excavating for all the short-lived interest it holds. [Feb 2008, p.88]
  4. Bizarre Creations delivers a different kind of shooter that will attract a specific kind of gamer. The boring setting and combo-system don't bring this game to the absolute top, but the addicting gameplay makes up a lot. If they put more effort in a possible sequel, it might become a classic in this new subgenre.
  5. Play (Poland)
The concept of speed is central to this shooter and that's even more pronounced than in many racers. The challenge to meet both the body count and the time limit provides countless adrenaline-charged moments, the whole experience is so intense that it's hard to remain on the top and in control for longer than half an hour. The only weak spots are boring defence modes and the fact that without the Games for Windows Live account you can't even save the game. All the rest is fast, aggressive and wild action. [Apr 2008]
  6. It's the same as the console version, which means you still don't have a good multiplayer game, and it's still third person. Nice of them to port it - shame they didn't give us something to mess about with on a LAN.

It's a simple game but if taken it on its own merits, The Club should satisfy anyone with an old-school interest in high scores.

If you're not into the challenge of doing something over and over trying to get your name higher on a leaderboard there won't be much here for you.
  9. PC PowerPlay
Lame multiplayer and disappointing weapons aside, The Club is a solid enough singleplayer shooter whose self-improvement-with-guns gameplay will keep you coming back until you hit that perfect score. Go hard! [Jun 2008, p.58]

If you get into The Club, you'll find an arcade shooter with a twist that can be played obsessively in search of high scores. I didn't find the hook all that appealing and felt left with a glorified shooting gallery. The idea is sound. There just isn't much to be excited about in the final product.
  11. I think more production needs to go into the sequel. They have created a decent foundation, but need to sharpen things up by making it a bit deeper and having those stories fleshed out some more.
  12. The Club would make a great bonus mode in another game. It's a much harder sell on its own. It's an FPS with the values of a racing game - entire focused on self-improvement and efficiency. [Mar 2008, p.78]
  13. PC Gamer
The Club is a good diversion, but it lacks the depth to keep the gameplay interesting beyond a few hours. [June 2008, p.70]
  14. A shoddy port job and shallow gameplay makes The Club a mediocre experience on PC, so my best advice is to get this game for consoles. While enjoyable, the gameplay gets repetitive; don't take it too seriously.

Sadly, The Club probably would’ve made a bigger splash had it been released in the early part of this decade, when games like this were all the rage.
  16. PC Zone UK
    A puddle-deep affair that struggles to justify a full-price release. [Apr 2008, p.72]
  17. The high concept of reality blood sports shows is fairly cool, but they didn't develop it far enough.
  18. Bottom line, The Club is unfortunately a mediocre title, an arcade shooter insufficiently polished, having no other purpose other than running around, chasing a higher score.
  19. Play Magazine
This is one club people might not want to join. [Mar 2008, p.58]

Good challenging singleplayer and very fun multiplayer, good story as well.

After playing the demo, I feel it's more of a fast paced bonus game that a more mature 3rd person shooter would have. The gameplay feels After playing the demo, I feel it's more of a fast paced bonus game that a more mature 3rd person shooter would have. The gameplay feels like the arcades, which is good in some aspects. However, it lacks any type of goal/storyline, which makes it repetitive quickly. It's a good game to pick up once and awhile, but not play for hours straight. In my honest opinion, it's not worth a full $50. If it was only $15, I'd be more interested. Full Review »

Good concept, however the support behind it lacks, with the numerous issues this game has.
