An essential purchase, as it increases the longevity of the original and more importantly improves on it, to make the whole experience of Tolkien's world feel even more complete.
Witch-King may not leave that same sense of wonder as when the original Battle for Middle-earth II launched, but it is – nonetheless – a challenging game that offers a new look at the rich tapestry of Tolkien’s world.
I have played this game on and off since it's release and wish to write a review here to maybe inspire a new generation to try out this game, in a time where RTS game are practically dead.I have played many of the top RTS games like Starcraft 2, C&C, Warcraft 3, Age of Empires 2, 3 and a few others. This is my favorite, by far. The game has an incredibly high skill ceiling, yet is still alot more causal that other RTS games. Not to mention there is a plethora of custom made game-modes like tower wars to enjoy if you are not into the competitive online experience. Graphics, while old have aged beautifully thanks to the artstyle. Sound design is probably the best in gaming, you can't beat it and let me xplain. The game features actual sound files from the Jackson lotr trilogy itself, which is one of the best and highest budget movies ever made. The sound overall holds extraordinarily high quality, and the soundtrack (also from the movie) is the best in movie history (therefore also in gaming history) in my opinion. All the incredible sound effects makes you completely immersed in the game. Gameplay is also incredible. It features 7 different factions, with unique themes that stays true to the lotr books. If you download the 2.02 unofficial patch (developed but a passionate community of fans), the game is very well balanced and has incredible variety for an RTS game. It also has a great single player experience with a great campaign and fun skirmish games against the AI on various beautiful maps from the lotr universe. This game is abandonware at this point, but can be downloaded for free on gamereplays and be played online on gameranger. I HIGHLY reccomend trying this out, one of the best games ever made imo, and it's now free, so what can go wrong?
-A FEW WORDS FIRST
One of the absolute best RTS games of all time easily. I have played this game from release all the way to this day and I won't stop, I always go back at some point. (Little tip, go play around with the Ini file of the game and mod it yourself for a better experience).

This game is simply legendary and if you haven't played it then you definitely should! It's a shame tho it doesn't exist for sale anymore and doesn't support multiplayer via easy means. Still worth it tho.
Although it doesn't entirely change the game around, this expansion makes enough improvements, allowing gamers to get lost in Middle-earth all over again.
The additions and fixes to War of the Ring mode make that style of play a much more inviting option this time around. There are still some AI issues on the strategic map and using navies needs to be an option, but overall, War of the Ring should bring plenty of hours of entertainment.
For those gamers that were fans of the original from a single player aspect, Rise of the Witch King doesn't really add that much more such it should grab your attention. For die-hard Lord of the Rings fans, the minimal content additions will likely be enough.
Лучше первой части, теперь возможно строиться где пожелаешь, а не только в определенных местах! А еще можно создать своего ГЕРОЯ! В общем обязательна к прохождению!
It was worse than orginal edition
For this type of game, it was very well. The only problem was graphics it was also good but not best.
