  • Summary: Undertake a fantastic journey following the same path as the Fellowship in the book. Play as either Frodo, Aragorn, or Gandalf the Grey. As you take the fabled One Ring closer to its fate, you will explore the most dangerous wilds of Middle-earth from the Shire to the very edge of Mordor. [Universal Interactive] Expand

  1. Stick with it through those slow, opening Hobbiton chapters and you’ll be immortalised in the terrible poetry of Elvensong. No doubt.
  2. A neat title to have if you really want a LOTR title that brings a little more to the game than just what you saw at your local theater, but missing parts, changes to the story, and some technical and gameplay issues cannot be overlooked while playing it.
  3. 65
It does sadly leave out big important sections of the story which can make things sometimes seem a bit disjointed.
  4. 59
Considering the amount of detail that clearly went into designing the lush landscapes, enormous environments, and character art for this game, it's really a shame that the fun factor seems like less than an afterthought.
  5. The problem is that using the Ring is not critical to success in the game - you can complete it easily enough without ever using the Ring.
  6. 48
They seem to have missed a creative mind behind this project, who would design a more enjoyable gameplay, keep the story more coherent and make the game three times as long as it turned of to be.
  7. Even in the face of the irritating gameplay and lack of functionality, it's the liberties the game takes with its source that hurt the most.

I like it, especially playing Arigorn, anyone who disagrees doesn't like thinking about how to get past obstacles.

A really good game, they captured the feel of the movies really well. I loved that you could play as Aragorn, Gandalf and Frodo, it was a really good idea. The locations do well in this, that's why my score is this high. If only they had made the sequal... Expand

Games like this are why the LOTR license was so carefully guarded for years; sad to see it was all for naught. It's been a long time since I've been unfortunate enough to play something this sad. Expand

This piece of crap set me back $50... any relation it has to the Books is cosmetic. Sluggish play, impossible camera-angles, and a juvenile "hunt-and-find" scheme (which Sierra is notorious for) makes this a truly annoying piece of software. If I had known that Sierra had been involved (they hide that fact rather well), I never would have bought this silly thing. I was wanting an action game, and got nothing but a foolish scavenger-hunt. BOO :( Don't waste your money on this... it's nothing but the stupid "King's Quest" series with a new makeover. Expand

If only there were an option for -10, i would give it. I would recomend this game to unexperienced gamers, but some of the missions early on in the game are far from obvious. This game isn't even worth copying. I made it through the first time in about 5 hours. Lets all do the world a favor and not sponser this game's production or marketing in any way. Expand
