  • Summary: Tin Soldiers: Julius Caesar brings you back to the epic story of a leader the world hadn’t seen since the likes of Alexander the Great. Leading the forces of Caesar in his sweep of Gaul, you will force submission of the proud Gallic tribes and expand Roman control. Once you achieve the prestige of Caesar himself, you will take your forces across the Rubicon and face your nemesis Pompey in a climactic Civil War spanning the Roman territories. Do you have what it takes to match the achievements of Julius Caesar and name yourself dictator for life? [Matrix Games] Expand

It certainly doesn't have the purely visual or kinetic appeal of a game like Rome: Total War but there's plenty of depth to be enjoyed here. Fans of turn-based tactical games will find this game to be a really tough and rewarding challenge.
  2. Koios Works is building the best ancient wargames since the "Great Battles" series of the late nineties. [Aug 2005, p.74]
  3. Tin Soldiers: Julius Caesar lets the little nerd in you run free without the possibility of getting caught and pigeonholed for life. Just remember to hide the lightsaber under the cough when company drops in.
  4. The A.I. remains pretty predictable, so most of the single-player challenge is due to the A.I.'s larger armies. Worst of all, there's no PBEM. With battles lasting for hours, multiplayer games are just too difficult to coordinate and play.

Would have earned a 9 but for the interface. Good, solid, entertaining game waith an AI that can be frustratingly difficult to outmanoeuvre.
