  1. It has something for everyone, including new players and those who simply want to raise their characters to the new level cap.
  2. Immortal Throne takes an enjoyable game and ratchets up the fun a couple of notches, which is exactly what an expansion game should do.
  3. 90
Immortal Throne continues Titan Quest's winning blend of killing, shopping, and strategic decision-making. It's a textbook case of a great expansion.
  4. Just about every aspect of the game has been polished.
  5. It's not infinitely replayable, but it's good for another 15 or 20 hours, which as expansion packs go is, I think, AOK.
  6. With hundreds of great new items, some simple but effective new features, and a dozen hours or more of gameplay (which multiplies with the new difficulty levels), any fan of the game will likely find this to be a worthy addition.

If you loved the first then this is a must. As for everyone else who still hasn't experienced Titan Quest, now is a better time than ever. An excellent expansion to an excellent game.
  8. As an expansion pack it fulfils the role beautifully, bringing in features and elements that were sorely lacking from the original in terms of character management.
  9. Don't expect any big innovations but if you enjoyed Titan Quest then you will love Immortal Throne.
  10. Immortal Throne's not going to change the way you look at action/RPGs, but it breathes some new life into one of last year's better games. For my money, that's an expansion I can support.
  11. This is an expansion that reinvigorates the Titan Quest experience and re-affirms the first game's quality. [Apr 2007, p.64]
  12. There are no huge technical leaps or jarring presentational changes, just eight-or-so hours of extra content and some convenient and entertaining additions to the core gameplay.
  13. There is definitely a case that some of the structural improvements and additions should have found inclusion in the original title, but all of them are well thought-out and implemented, adding longevity and replay value to an already deep title.
  14. THQ has given us a great game, but it's too bad they haven't taken steps to protect it for those of us who want to play fair.

    A really classy expansion.

While Titan Quest is still a pretty shameless clone of the "Diablo II" formula, it's a pretty good one, and this new expansion is one of those smart ones that add new content both for high-level and newer players. It might not feel wholly original, but it's a fine pastiche of comfortable formula fare.
  17. Immortal Throne offers some really good high-level content for established Titan Quest fans to dig into, while retroactively adding small but meaninful improvements to the original Titan Quest.
  18. Immortal Throne, which sends you to Hades to interact with numerous heroes and villains from Greek mythology, addresses a number of the most common complaints players had about Titan Quest. [Apr 2007, p.56]
  19. 78
A great addition to the original Titan Quest. The new inventory options and the new mastery skill add a lot of fun and convenience to the core game and the additional Hades act really extends the game nicely for players who have already completed the rest of the campaign.
  20. If you've finished the original and want to keep that mouse finger in shape, this expansion is worth a trip to the land of the dead for. [May 2007, p.83]
  21. It's simply a tale of new areas and new monsters to left-click on with whatever over-powered kill-stick you have in your inventory. [Apr 2007, p.66]
  22. There's something gripping about the constant surge of beast-slaughter, and who am I to deny such primal urges?
  23. The new areas are the standout feature and shine in a way the original Titan Quest's levels never did.

  1. Complete requisite for TQ, improves the game 100%. New features, items, shops, options, and a new land that will truly challenge you. Honestly, the new map is nearly too difficult. Other than that, there's nothing really negative here for fans of ARPG. This expansion puts it clearly marks above Diablo 2. The developers are coming back with an independently published game set to improve everything about TQ, which I feel will be better than activision's cash-in on Diablo. Full Review »
  2. This is THE best hack and slash game since Diablo II. This game is a pure DII clone, but of highest quality and with beautiful graphics. The possibility of mixing so called masteries offers totally 45 possible combinations! Collect item, make a perfec build, improve your gear by collectim artifacts and relics. Classic stuff - nothing fancy but exactly what one may expect form this kind of game. Also there are some very interesting mods available! Full Review »
  3. Ah, the beautiful expansion to an already amazing game. Titan Quest is great, but it pales in comparison to Titan Quest: Immortal Throne. Now on top of the original three acts (Greece, Egypt and Orient) you have another act, and it's the longest one too, and also the most atmospheric and challenging. Act 4 takes the player into the Underworld, the realm of Hades himself. The original game featured a good soundtrack, but a lot of the time those played during key parts of the game. Now however even the ordinary areas are filled with beautiful music. The NPCs now are more animated, they actually call out to you when they see you. The AI of the monsters has been improved from the original - the archers for example now will tend to run away from you once you damage them. Immortal Throne also introduces a new mastery to the game, now giving 9 masteries, and hence 45 different character classes! As well as a new act and a mastery, many other elements are added too, such as a whole arsenal of new weapons and armor, and also the ability to reclaim some of the lost experience points upon dying. I'll admit, Titan Quest and Immortal Throne aren't for everyone. However for fans of adventure RPG games this game is more than satisfactory. If you like swords and magic, as well as ancient mythology, there is no excuse to pass this game. Just remember to buy and install the original first and then switch to Immortal Throne (IT still contains everything the original had, so there is no reason to go back to the original EVER). Though many bugs have been fixed since the original, there are still a handful present. But those have been fixed by a fanpatch 1.17. Full Review »
